Flex Display Technology
GIGABYTE Flex display technology(patent-pending) can automatically detect any connected monitors and achieve multi-display gaming up to 4 monitors at the same time by using various output groups. Users could enjoy the best gaming experience in ultra HD resolution with extended flexibility in arranging monitor configurations and making future system upgrade extremely easy.

Windforce 3X Cooling system
WINDFORCE 3X cooling system is equipped with high performance pure cooper heat-pipes which direct touch the GPU can strengthen the speed of heat dissipation. Besides, the air flow is effectively enhanced by the unique blade fan design, this not only increase the cooling capacity while reducing air turbulence but also results a lower noise level.

Ultra Durable VGA
Lower GPU Temperature
Ultra Durable VGA board provides dramatic cooling effect on lowering both GPU and memory temperature by doubling the copper inner layer of PCB.

Better Overclocking Capability
Ultra Durable VGA board reduces voltage ripples in normal and transient state, thus effectively lowers noises and ensures higher overclocking capability.

Decrease Power Switching Loss
Ultra Durable VGA board allows more bandwidth for electron passage and reduces circuit impedance. The less circuit impedance, the more stable flow of current and can effectively improve power efficiency.

• WINDFORCE 3X cooling system
• Flex Display Technology(patent-pending)
• Powered by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 GPU
• Integrated with industry's best 4GB GDDR5 memory 256-bit memory interface

Cheaper buying direct from scan, once pnp is factored.

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-gigabyte-gtx970-windforce-3-oc-pcie-30-7010mhz-gddr5-gpu1114mhz-boost1253mhz-cores1664-xmas-offe

£4.57 oppose to £4.98 from ebay. And some people can get free pnp from direct from scan.

Mind there is no free game coupon

Paid £50 more for the MSI GTX 970 which is pretty much the same thing.
This is the best £250 card on the market!

paid 249.99 two weeks ago and got free game voucher too, likely far cry 4

GTX 670 vs GTX 970 - Increased specs are negligible. Not worth paying the dough for the upgrade?
#14
How does this compare to Palit's GTX 970 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/131382447006?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108) which is £15 cheaper?

It's always strange to see a statement followed by a question mark ...

Same, it's an absolute beast :D

Yeah I have a 670GT and was wondering if it was a worthwhile upgrade myself.

It would be in my eyes. Around 30-35% better performance to generalise across the board.

Probably safer to buy from ebay than scan cos of money back guarantee on ebay, considering scan don't have the best customer service.

I find this price very hard to accept when i can get a 290 'like new' from amazon for around £180 with amazon's great customer service if i ever had an issue even months down the line i'm sure they'd give a refund. This card isn't worth £80 more is it?

Are there any games you cannot max and play at reasonable FPS? If so, then it's likley to be worth the upgrade. If not, then no need to buy a new card ... Simples :)

Depends on whether you think a 50-60% increase in performance along with twice the graphics RAM is worth the upgrade or not. It's certainly not a negligible increase in spec, but the GTX 670 is still a very, very good card.

That all depends on what R9 290 you're getting. If it has a third party custom cooler, I'd probably take the 290. If it's a reference card, the noise alone would put me off.

Looking at the performance tests for the r 290s is this card a no brainer or are some for a same price quite close?

Well for me it's a no brainer. (I bought the MSI GTX 970 for ~£256)
- 970 requires less wattage PSU (i only have 600w and reccomended for high end amd = 750W)
- runs cooler (right now fan is at 0 RPM and its 28C)

The 970 is without question a walkover on the 670....

That's all baloney. I've run a 7970 clocked at 1.2GHz, an R290 and also a 970 G1 edition off my 650W power supply and the most power that has been drawn during a heavy session of Battlefield 4 was 320 watts by the R9 290. It's just to accommodate the 'SUPER GAMING 750W POWER SUPPLY £20 AT AMAZON' type gamers.
