Good case with some clever design touches but it's hard to make a silent system..

Why is it difficult to keep the noise down.

I can never understand why you buy a mini ITX motherboard and then put it a bloody big case. oO
Enlighten me!
Maybe that a mitx mobo does all that anyone might need, or it could be a deal that it is cheaper than a matx equivalent?
Agreed that it's unlikely though.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/09/06/bitfenix-prodigy-review/4

currently using an older standard tower case (cm 330) and the case of this deal is hardly any smaller. i'm still after a good case for my mini-ITX pc, considering a cm-130, but as well reviewed as this case is there doesn't seem to be much mini about it. still good price for a good case however.

I had one of these for a gaming rig in the living room - great little case. Was a touch too small in the end as I upgrades but this is a great price if the size isn't an issue.

I'd say these are a decent amount quieter than stock intel coolers (775/1150, and the rest). Been around a long time but they're good at what they do. Good price. :)

I actually disagree with the previous 2 posters. I put one of these on an FX 6300 and it is considerably better than the stock AMD cooler.

It a decent option for a machine with limited clearance..

It also CAN be controlled by the motherboard, it just doesn't have PWM. Connected directly to the motherboard and with AMD Cool 'n' Quiet enabled on the motherboard, the fan barely even spins up due to the amount of copper leeching heat away from the CPU.

Essentially, this is ideal for a HTPC but not one if you are looking to overclock.

I have the 8900(not much difference) on my i5 4670k and z97i plus motherboard, huge heat sink but very quiet and keeps everything cool

I used to have this about a decade ago. The design is a pain because it overlaps the motherboard at the top, and some cases it won't fit in because the PSU is above the board and there's not enough clearance.

At the time it was much quieter than a stock cooler, it has a little pot you can turn the voltage down with, but modern stock ones are better now.
I think the one you are thinking of looks similar in design, but is actually much larger (I remember wanting one just because it looked great).
This one wouldn't overhang the edge of the board.
Oops, yes very possible, I don't remember the model number it just looked the same from the photo

It has been mentioned by some canadian tech site that reference coolers on both the 660 ti, 670 ti and no doubt applies to the 680 and 660, do not maintain the boost/turbo speeds constantly (the ones with nvidia reference coolers). The non reference coolers especially this one and the windforce gigabyte and the msi power editions, actually maintain boost speeds, due to the twin fans and better voltage circuits.

They have the same laptop in Argos for £349.99.
The processor is not i5 on that Argos one though.

So many misleading information here...

If it's a i5-3210, the GPU should be Intel HD 4000, Ivy Bridge

If it's a i5-2310, the GPU should be Intel HD 3000..

Intel HD 2000 is only included in the Pentium Sandy Bridge processors....

Cold deal no matter how u look at it...

i5 2310 is a desktop cpu no?
the 2310m (m for mobile) is an i3.

Sandybridge have the HD3000 gpu in the mobile versions afaik. I know desktop versions came with HD 2000, 2500 and 3000 but I can't recall seeing mobile versions with anything but HD3000.
3210m laptops can be had for under £400, so cold.

Asus are nice machines, but for a couple of quid more you can have the same CPU/memory/hard drive but with 17" higher-res screen, Nvidia GT630M graphics and a blu-ray player + some expensive headphones as a bonus freebie. Seems a lot of people don't rate HP's online shop, but I ordered mine yesterday and it was delivered today...

Beats are awful and HP is awful.

I owe an HP laptop and it's 5 years old. Using it absolutely every day and just bought another one HP Envy to be delivered tomorrow as an upgrade. I like HP and their customer service (even I've got mine in USA, calles UK customer service and all been sorted with no problems)

as well as the reasons above this card is £95 on scans today only page. so cold for me.

Works out at £103.97 because of the p&p. But if you look my description I describe how to get this cheaper.

Or you can get the OC'd version as polly69 suggested which is again cheaper at ginger6 @ £102.65.
These deals are for those that don't use forums to get free p&p.

easy enough to get free delivery at scan though and well worth doing imo.

I believe it is the (lack of) heatsink on the switched mode power supply transistors. People on here have said they work fine even when overclocked, but I know how semiconductors can degrade over time when they overheat. Personally, I would go for a different brand and pay £5 more. You pays ya money, you takes ya pick.
Really interested at the Scan deal for the Palit/XpertVision GTX 460 but didn't they or don't they have problems with memory heatsinks on these Palits?

Its alright i suppose assuming you have 30 posts on the forums and can get free delivery. If you dont, you probably wont want to spend time signing up and authenticating and then posting 30 times to save 27 pence until midnight tonight then i would buy this here

It's all weekend since it's a Friday.

It's Scan, who have received awards for their customer service + I've used countless times with no problems.

It's Free Next Day delivery not 4-5 days which is Free at Ginger 6 (whoever they are).

You don't need 30 posts.

Also It's only £1. more than Ginger 6 when not a Today Only Special.

Well it seems that it is only free delivery if the oerder is over £50 despite it saying on the right hadn side that it is fre delivery to mainland UK.

So at £29.99 delivered not much between that and Play.com...will give it a miss this time

Update - have done some research and managed to find it for £24.17 delivered so if you want one of these...here is the link

Not a good deal, slow DDR2 which makes having 1GB of RAM even more pointless.
Get a 512MB DDR3 version for £50 odd. It'll perform better.

Uses slower DDR2 Ram though, more for memory-intensive 3D applications, less for gaming I would imagine
