Yes, this is a ridiculously cheap little IR remote for the PS3 but the bigger bargain is it gives you an IR dongle for the PS3 that you can then use with a Harmony or other universal remote and coming from Gioteck it will work well as opposed to most of the knock off PS3 remotes.

Appears to be online only so can't use a £5 voucher but for £1.98 I'm not complaining.

An amazingly slim remote control, this fuss-free sleek black PS3 MX-I Micro Media Remote Control from Gioteck will help you control your Sony PlayStation 3 simply, and with style!

Less than 100 mm long and with a depth of less than 10 mm, this remote control is sure to impress. The intuitive remote has Play, Pause, Fast Forward, Chapter Skip and other basic buttons that are simply designed around two navigation rings. The Gioteck PS3 MX-I Micro Media Remote Control also saves energy when not in use.

Be in command of your favourite DVD or Blu-ray movies from the comfort of your sofa with the Gioteck PS3 MX-I Micro Media Remote Control!

I ordered one without too much research. Is it an IR remote and a usb adapter that just plugs in the front of the PS3? I guess i will just be able to teach my harmony if the dongle isn't in the device list. I'm guessing that it will be inferior to the logitech one but, for the price, it'll be a bargain if it works.

now unavailable at currys pc world and dixons online

£8 from mymemory through amazon if you missed it. I still can't find any info about how it works or if it will work with 3.42 or 3.50 because sony messed with the usb ports to block the hack.

Not sure which type this is but there seems to be two ways of doing it, one is that they use the codes from the PS2 remote which officially works with the PS2 to PS3 usb adaptor, and the second is to pretend to be a PS3 controller connected by the charging cable.

I have a feeling it may be the second because it claims you can turn the PS3 off by holding the home button which I don't think works the other way.

Don't quote me on any of this as I've only read up on it for ten minutes this morning before ordering but seems to work for a lot of people.

For those that are going to use this with a Harmony, codes that work are already on the database from a different remote that must use the same IR codes. Install the device as...

GameConsole with DVD->BigBen->BB 251548

Just tried it and all buttons work as they should with none of the press and hold that the remote that comes with it requires.
