Lowest price by at least a quid or two compared to elsewhere inc eBay.

There is a future that we can't wait for. What would you do if you could 'leap' backward through time? When tomboyish 17 year old Makoto Konno gains this ability after an accident in her high school chemistry lab, she immediately sets about improving her grades and preventing personal mishaps. Before long, however, she realizes that even innocuous changes can have terrible consequences. Changing the past is not as simple as it seems, and eventually Makoto will have to rely on her new powers to shape the future for herself and her friends. Featuring brilliant character design by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and stunning art direction by long time Studio Ghibli. Nizo Yamamoto's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a feast for the eyes as well as the heart.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is technically a sequel to The Girl Who Runs Through Time with a brief cameo appearance by the protégé of the original film adaptation. It is well worth seeking out the original book, manga, and television films as it provides the reason to why the main character of this adaptation has the powers to jump through time.

I can't remember the title right now, but there's another film adaptation, much more recent (about 2011?)... I watched it very late one night so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but I know I enjoyed it and *think* I recall it being a pseudo-sequel to this animated version, so sorta making them a trilogy :-)

I couldn't agree with you any more. Actually, I love japanese cartoon very much.
#12
one of my favorite movies, but I don't have blue ray dvd player. :(

I was given this and "Summer Wars" as a birthday gift. "Girl who..." was fantastic, but I just couldn't get into Summer Wars. Might attempt it again sometime soon.
#14
Now £5.78 (_;) When I wanted to buy one.

Might just be more reasonable to wait for a price drop on the Summer Wars set now.

Possibly worth noting that you can still enjoy the Girl Who Leapt Through Time without knowing any of this. I did.

Quite keen to check out the previous stuff now though...

Ooooo didn't know about the sequel stuff will check it out, thanks!

I really enjoyed this, thought it could easily been made into a Hollywood, bit like Source Code.

I couldn't really get into Summer Wars either or Origin spirit of the past, bit too Sci Fi for me! I do recommend Millennium Actress outside of the Studio Ghibli collection though!

When I originally watched the Girl Who Leapt through Time I thoroughly enjoyed the animation, so did some investigation into the production. So was quite surprised that the animation was loosely based on a book by Yasutaka Tsutsui (who also wrote Paprika), which been adapted into live action television film (Four different versions exist). The Nineteen Eighties version of Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo [1983] The Girl Who Conquered Time is supposedly the closest to the book, and avoid the new adaptation.
