Seems cheap for this book, on Kobo it's over £2 and this is 95% off. Probably only for today so if interested get it from Amazon.

I mean....errrrr.... I don't know where to start.

You can't be very well read though. Saying that...there are still a number of female writers who write under a pseudonym. So you could've been reading a woman's work without even knowing it..

don't get me wrong, I have read a lot of books by women, it's just that they were all pretty poor apart from a few by Iris Murdoch & then she went nutso

so I simply decided no more for me

don't waste your life on stuff written by Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf, George Eliot etc - boring/ tedious/ no wit or action/ no plot

not read any Val McDermid so might give one book a go, what is her best stuff?

I'm far from well read. But I won't let the name/gender of an author put me off.

I'm just shocked you're missing out on Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Some of the best literature of all time!

looked it up on Wiki and doesn't sound like my thing

btw I studied French with Jo Rowling & have to confess to not reading any of her stuff, (my son has, though if that helps, Jo), she was not that brilliant at French, I must tell you - but I guess she has had the last laugh

I read a book by a black bloke once. It was pants. No more non white fiction for me.

Can you see how nuts your post is?

I don't find Amy Schumer funny personally, but Tina Fey's Bossy Boots book is quite funny if comedy biographies are what you are looking for.

nope it simply reflects the differences between the sexes - women instinctively write in a woman's way & that is detectable in the first chapter (if not paragraph) - I don't like that style

I'm not saying women writers are not good for women readers or men reader who like that sort of style

That's simply not true as many books are published under pseudonyms where their sex is not apparent. Writers of both sexes write in a myriad of styles; there is no such thing as a fixed male or female style. Most best selling crime books at the moment seem to be written by women and are hugely popular with both sexes. It's a shame that you are missing out on some great reading by refusing to read books by female authors. Your loss, I guess; Val McDermid, Patricia Cornwell, Ruth Rendell, Sarah Waters, will continue to sell shed loads of books to more enlightened readers.

That's very general comment. not all women writers are awful in the same token as not all male writers are great. plenty of examples of award winning celebrated women writers who's books been adaoted for television., theatre and movies and profited hansomly as a result. Talking from a man's perspective find that women writers are able to capture the emotional aspect of a situation far better than male writers.

Up to £2.99 so expired, but still cheaper than the RRP which seems a hell of a lot.

You should have read some of the rubbish the moderators removed from this thread.

Quite an amusing book.
