If someone can afford a Z97, I guess he would rather get a decent i5 or i7 for this money.

I still don't really see a huge point in this CPU, as cool as it is. I'd rather have an i3 in every way =/

Can't get an i3 this cheap, and can't clock to 4.5ghz

How about this bundle for £100, then add some RAM? http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=BNA-H81G3258OC
OK lower spec mobo but if you want a cheap fast rig ? Not sure about the vendor, anyone used them?

Totally pointless IMO. For this price, you can buy either:
1) H81 board, 4GB and an i5-4440 (or an i3 and a third party cooler, although if not overclocking, what's the point of buying a better cooler?
2) AM3+ board, 4GB, AMD FX-8320 and a cooler

Either of which would be a better than this for just about any scenario. Intel's 'cheap-and-cheerful' overclockable Pentium is seriously held back (officially) needing an anything but cheap Z97/Z87 board.

Now that is a far better price. Wonder if any other vendors will do something similar. Eclipse have been around for decades but I don't think they have a great reputation; but then neither do Aria.

Couldn't agree more. This Pentium would be awesome, IF you could get a board to put it on for £40.

i've bought a couple of systems from eclipse as they do have competative prices. Bought around 5 and 2 and half years ago, no problems and both still working. Having said that i've never had to return anything so not sure what that experience would be like. As has been previously said, they have been round for years. I'm due a new one soon and if they are the cheapest again, won't hesitate to use again. Before i order though, i would probably just do a few googles for negative comments in case they have gone down the pan recently.

The H81 Asus mobo in the eclipse deal allows overclocking now and is available separately for around 40 quid. Tempting to build my own "bundle".

personally just built a z97 based + pentium g3258 bundle. not as daft as it might sound as the board will support gen 5 cpu s and the pentium is just a stand in till then. I'd still rather have that than an am3+ bundle

The motherboard in the bundle will have been flashed with the latest bios that enables the G3258

If you buy the motherboard separately, there's a good chance this will have the older bios.
and the G3258 will not work out of the box.

You would need a spare older Haswell cpu handy in order to flash the motherboard
