I got my last glasses from Tesco... the test may be free, but just as dear as many.... I think my Varifocals were 200 quid. OK, nothing wonderful or special!

Getting glasses from abroad isn't a substitute for the test though, you still need that doing - it has been great for a friend of mine, his prescription is dead simple, powerful lens, so although his sight is poor, there is little problem, whereas for me, not many places do varifocals, and there is more to getting the position of the various portions of the lens in the right place; still, I probably will try abroad this time around, as for one thing, the choice of sizes of frames seems better, I usually end up with very old fashioned styles to get the right arm length here, whereas ordered from abroad there is more choice of these types without resorting to something from the 80's!

well, yeah you can really.

eye test at tescos is free anyway and the £10 glasses are appalling

I got a free test and bought two pairs of glasses for £9 delivered from googles4u using the prescription (after quidco). They are very good quality.

I bought the above pair of glasses as I wear contact leses and only need a cheap pair. They are not bad at all for a tenner.

H & R for OP

Last time these were on offer I bought the grey and black. I only need them for distance, so ideal for keeping in the car/work.... or going to the pub to watch the football and not worrying about breaking/losing them.

They only do plastic lenses and I am after glass ! as my plastic ones are scratched/marked after only a couple of years, anybody know where to buy some glass lenses ?

Hi Guys

I got a free eye test at tesco. I couldnt pick any glasses as i was in a hurry and didnt want to rush it.
I fancy a pair of roxy glasses which they do not sell, can I request a copy of the prescription?

The glasses were on BOGOF on Sunday when I was in my local Tesco. I ended up getting 2 pairs of Gant for £120 (I wanted BOSS ideally but the limited styles they had weren't my cuppa tea!)
Free eye test too as mentioned....

Booked my test, earliest they could fit me in was the 29th of this month so very popular :-D

I have had my Tesco glasses for about 6 weeks now and I am very happy!

I got free eye test, and BOGOF for frames and single vision lenses - I chose Carrera frames for normal and Nike frames for sunnies... all for £120.

Better still the optician ticked the box saying that I needed specific glasses for work, and that means I was re-imbursed £50 by the company!

All in all, a very good experience!

Yes, you should be able to do this. I have done this before when getting an eye test on offer! Give the store a ring or pop back in and request a copy.

I remember something about Specsavers giving you £10 off your glasses if you get your glasses with them using a prescription from another opticians! Not confirmed though and might be store specific :)

They are legally obligated to provide you with a copy of your prescription after an eye test regardless how much you paid for it.

Also that offer is store specific, the speccies I used to work at occasionally had a 25% off specs if you brought in an outside prescription, however this was a separate offer and can't be used with other offers such as 2for1. However it's always worth asking even if they don't advertise it.

They have to provide you with a copy, it's a legal requirement...

Selection of a total of SIX £10 frames online! They are awful as well - have about 20 or so in store, but half are 'granny' glasses.

The free eye test is just to get you in there, but useful to use on the online websites

Goggles4U have FIFTY or so glasses for £5 and £15 with lenses. You can also get prescription sunglasses for £15 and photochromatic for about £19. Also a 10% off code on here still working plus 5% Quidco.
