depends if you think a deal is money off usual price (your claim, your stance) or value for money (my stance)

25YO is not exceptional

Glenfarclas is OK but not exceptional

go through Duty Free & you'll see many similar aged single malts for under £60

plus £60 is not Duty Free price if you're flying EU - regular tax paid price

No disrespect but i travel and buy whisky all the time, you might get a 18 year old average mainline glenmorangie for £100 in duty free if your lucky but you WONT get any 25 year old under £200 in duty free. Glenfarclas is a great whisky that does not spend its money on marketing but product and has great value due to its good capacity, i rate this and Springbank as one of the best (although is do like lots of others).

Not allowed to post that as they don't have enough feedback, for 2 quid more direct from amazon i would go with that.

That one's fake. It's filled with cough syrup. Still tastes nice though.

Maybe I'm missing something but there's literally loads of 25yo whiskies under £200, with a fair few being half that.

Off the top of my head, good price to quality ratio whiskys

Glenfarclas 15 or any
Springbank 10 / 15 (love their organic)
Ben Nevis 10
Oban 14
Old Pulteney 12

All solid dram to cash ratio.

Which was in reply to your £60 duty free 25 year old fantasy, duty free is generally rubbish for whisky if you know your beans. Can you show me some good 25 at £100 elsewhere, maybe some private single cask bottlings which are always a risk unless someone has let you know the score.

A few other options, tbh not aware of what these taste like...so could be rubbish.

https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/34728/glenrothes-1990-25-year-old-signatory

I've had a few 18 to 25 year old whiskies in the past. While very nice, personally I don't find the improvement over a £25 12 year old justifies spending so much more. Lidl's have some cracking whiskies in at the moment.

Yes you wont get any good 25 year old in duty free for under 200 whats not to understand, they don't carryn independent bottlings or small brands they carry the big guns who need to sell their older bottlings for a high price. I was in edinburgh 4 days ago and it was a joke.

Not sure about the others, but i would take a punt on the Glenrothes, if a private bottling is that cheap its probably rank.

I would agree that whisky don't need to be old, i love glenny 15 and even some younger fiery cheap stuff.
Just a good deal for this whisky thats all, still penty of stufff half the price i would drink all week.

Yea some of their stuff is good i agree, that does not make this a bad deal, but this is not even a bottling. it's a no distillery name bottling which while good and sometimes great but not the same as a branded bottle or even a private bottling hence the price but bargains can be had.

I didn't get one but I remember seeing the 15, 18, 21 and 25 on regular lightning deals.

I'd expect to see a repeat in a few weeks with black Friday.

Yep! Also got the 21 for £58.99. Haven't opened either of them yet, as I'm still working my way through all the other whisky deals they had on at the same time...
