A good deal going by their inflated rrp but far better bargains on offer at the mo. The Glenmorangie 1l for £25, Lagavulin for £30 at asda along with their own brand malts for £13.50.

IMHO the asda own brands are better and cheaper, heard good thing about sainsburys taste the difference also.

Asda has the 70cl for £18...Is that cheaper???

No.

18 / 70 * 100 = 25.71

£40 seems a very optimistic rrp for this...

Not a bad whisky and good price for a single malt, but some good offers on now for better.

Glenmorangie Single Highland Malt Whisky Aged 10 Years (1L)
£39.99 £24.99 - Valid until: 14/12/2010
(£2.50 / 100ml)

And some decent 700ml ones as well that are better even though less in them.

thats good for 1 litre

but get some islay malts if you want a good whiskey

It's a decent introduction to single malts, and good value for money.

Asda's Islay at £13.50 (probably Caol Ila) has bags of flavour and in my humble view is far superior to Glenfiddich which has little or no flavour.

Like comparing chalk and cheese , Islay malts are not to everyones taste as very strong peat flavour..

Sounds like you've been duped by an Irish whiskey seller: Scottish malts are called 'whisky'.

I don't like a lot of them - they smell of diesel!
