Going to risk the wrath of another Asda deal here, but just picked up a bottle of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban single malt for £13.99 (was £25, then £20 and now...) in Asda Cwmbran.

Also had the Sherry cask version for £15.99 (was £26.99) and some Gold version for £19.99 (was £29.99)

Hope this isnt store specific and somebody gets a bargain.

Havent got an online account so cant check there sorry.

The last variety is the Glenmorangie D'or - finished in a Sauterne cask (? whatever that may be lol)

Tried the Quinta Ruban before. Wasn't hugely impressed, but for £14 it's great value. Fine if you like Speyside malts - nice and clean tasting but with just a hint of orangey richness.

I just polished off a bottle i picked up for about £20 in the same store.
I found it very nice. but then i find a brand i like and stick with it. Havent tried too many single malts in my time.

Didn't notice this in my local ASDA last night. Will have a closer look tonight. Excellent deal if it's nationwide.

it was on the end of the aisle in mine rather than nestled between the other brands.

Quinta Ruban is a Port Wood finish.

The Sherry cask is probably Lasanta which has an Oloros Sherry cask finish, although the Original isn't without sherry, just not so in your face.

Nectar D'Or is a Sauternes cask finish (a sweet french Dessert wine). Makes a change from sherry.

They are all good whiskies, and at a decent strength without the chill filtering, from a distillery with a fanatical cask policy are IMHO a cut above a lot of malts you'll find on supermarket shelves.

FWIW Glenmorangie is a Highland and not Speyside malt, although I'd agree that the style would suit someone who is usually drawn to Speyside malts.

Does anyone know if this is nationwide, or specific to one store?

Rufus.

None in Chalvey when I looked earlier.

Had to settle for a bottle of Isle of Jura for £ 17.00 instead - bargain ;-)

None in South Shields branch. Even the Isle of Jura had all gone.

I just bought the last one on the shelf in Cambridge asda, though there were plenty of the other varieties, and maybe more in stock? Who knows! But a very decent price..
