Think I'll stick to the Russian Standard, was 2 for £20 in asda recently, don't know if it's still on?

This is the roughest, most disgusting vodka I've ever had! Would rather have a Domestos n Coke!

cant say I notice any difference between this & expensive stuff. Mind you, I mix mine with a lot of pepsi & ice.

cant see the point in expensive vodka unless you practically drink it neat
#12
Tasty deal for a whole litre. Might lead to a filthy hangover but it sure beats my White Lightning. :)
#13
A detour on the way home.... Some cheap stuff for Christmas!
#14
vile. would not drink it even if it was free, Honestly mean that.

Agreed. Fill a pint glass 3/4 with ice, a double measure of this, dump lemonade, lemon cordial and 6 slices of lemon on top (it's a lemon thang) and you don't know it's there. Until you eventually fall over.

It's definitely fine for drinking like that.

I don't really see the point of masking the alcohol though. Plus, because of the amount of mixer you have to use to thin it down, it becomes worse for you.

I prefer to buy a nice bottle of something and mix roughly half and half. Each to their own though, this is definitely a hot deal.

Yeah but 8 out of 10 alcoholics and under-age drinkers said they preferred Glens vodka over the market leading brand!!

Filthy, filthy, filthy muck. A headache in a bottle. Seriously bad stuff this, I wouldn't give it to teenagers, anyone buying this and thinking they've got a bargain should use the money they've "saved" to stock up on ibuprofen and paracetamol.

You have received fair warning, don't blame me for your bad head.
#19
yeah vodka shouldn't have a 'taste' at least not a solventy one.

As said above this has a really nasty paint stripper taste to it. Not even masked by a mixer either.

It used to be cheap as well, about £6.99 for a 70cl, but now it costs more than the good Russian stuff.

Russell

let us in on the secret of where you can get a litre of good russian stuff for less than a tenner then
#23
This stuff is disgusting, not voting either way.
#24
White spirit prob tastes better. I like Vodka neat over loads of ice with a couple of Lime wedges. This stuff is awful.

#27
You'd be cheaper buying a bottle of white spirit and drinking that, better tasting too. Still, hot deal if you like drinking p**s from a homeless guy.
#28
This stuff is vile. Do yourself a favour and buy quality alcohol, not this paint thinner.
#29
Jees, what a lot of crap people talk. I think most folks calling it paint stripper are swayed by the marketing and fancy bottles of the more expensive brands.
I used to get this all the time from people until I made them do a blind taste test. You cannot tell the difference.
It's all in the head.

Oh, and I did another blind taste test with a few pals once, all of whom swore blind that they preferred green olives to black. All got them the wrong way round.
As I say it's all in the head.

And don't get me wrong, there are paint stripper vodkas out there. Usually the cheap crap that you get abroad (I'm guessing they have stricter standards here). Glen's isn't one of them.

If your pals can't taste the difference between green and black olives then they're idiots.

You can't claim 'it's all in the head' based on that. Green and black olives blatantly taste very different. Even someone without taste buds should be able to tell, they have a different texture!

Try doing a blind taste test with people who actually know what they're on about next time!
#31
This stuff is vile, maybe hence the price drop. Can't even mix it with the Sainsbury (red bull type) mixer as that tastes vile as well....don't they have people to test this stuff!.

Anyone who can't taste the difference between a green and black olive should not be involved in a taste test! Maybe they had been drinking this stuff 1st!.

expensive for drain cleaner

I'd much rather drink this from Aldi (kinda vile still but much more palatable than Glens)
http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/product_range_8457.htm

even still if I was after cheap Vodka I'd get Aldi's Wolschovska Russian Vodka
http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/product_range_12976.htm

the Wolschovska from aldi is kinda like a rough version of russian standard vodka.
Similiar style but rough.

Prefer stoli overall but they never seem to have offers on it nowadays.

Finlandia is my favourite, then either Ciroc, Grey Goose or Belvedere (but they're generally too expensive.
I'm also partial to some Ursus Roter every now and again, delicious mixed with lemonade.

The last bottle of finlandia i had was sub standard.
I am wondering if they are cutting corners to maintain its price.

I'll buy some on Wednesday and do a blind taste test with Smirnoff, with and without mixer (orange fanta (1:2 ratio).

tbh, smirnoff is overpriced crap too lol
