LOL guess not a very good review for one of these then. Not sure why their coming up as different prices, but thought it would be worth the punt for someone... or not!
Coming up at £109.99 for me as well.

Out of date. Over-priced. Not very good. Even at the lower price its not very good.

Cold ....
Thanks for reminding me. I have one of these somewere :|
From recent personal experience, wouldn't recommend buying anything directly from Iomega. Virtually non-existent customer support and a returns policy that requires you to ship stuff back to the Netherlands.

Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Reviewed

For potentially useful tweaks (which may void guarantee), see NAS Central
http://iomega.nas-central.org/wiki/Category:Home_Media

Edited By: veedubjai on Jul 01, 2011 18:58
I hook my laptop up to the TV to play films etc. I've ran out of storage space and don't like having to lug around the external HDD (mains powered) wherever I go with the laptop.

Will this drive be ideal for storing films + streaming to the TV via the laptop?

Acerage price for a 2TB NAS. Can get a 2 bay NAS for £60 then a 2TB drive for £50. Better with more options.

What a comment, you can buy a **** Nas box like the Netgear Stora which is more than £60 and stick a HDD in it but it wont be even in the same league as this. You show me a Decent Nas case for £60 and i will cancel the order, you must remember that this has gigabit not the usual 100mb that are on cheap cases and after doing some research it turns out the Iomega has a pretty good web interface it also has lots of features and no doubt can be hacked to allow news server and other useful stuff.

It seems to me that you always get someone with a comment like this don't you think if you could build a decent Nas for £109 i would of done it, i use my Acer revo as a server but i want a nice easy option instead of messing about with my windows server and all the other programs that are needed to stream your moves and stuff and the problems when things dont work. The problem with a dedicated server like mine is that you remote desktop into it and keep trying loads of programs out on it that you've downloaded and before you know it your servers playing up and you have to spend hours trawling through settings to sort the issue only to do it again.

I want a device that i can share my media to my UPNP devices and store files for my family without having to run a 2 year course for them to understand windows server or a complicated Nas like the other 2 i have.

D-Link DNS-323 (only £50) when I got mine, gigabit, torrents, itunes, ftp, ddns, smd, upnp, DLNA, dual bay, and can run FFP (fun plug), unlocking hundreds of new options, packages and features. Good, easy to use web interface aswell. Or the D-link DNS-320 for £63.
Don't worry about apologising, I'm used to making cocky people look stupid on here.

Problem is you haven't made me look stupid because where's the 3year warranty and i don't see any links to these products the only part i will give you is that a 2tb HDD can be had for around £49.99 so you have £59 left

first up the D-Link DNS-323
There’s not much else to see, as the appliance provides merely a single Gigabit Ethernet port for LAN connectivity and a USB port which can only be used to connect a suitable printer for sharing. For the price, we would have expected the option to attach external USB storage devices.

That means i cant connect my other external 2tb hard drives so thats out.

D-link DNS-320
The large gap between the two hard disk bays is great for cooling, but also magnifies drive noise. If the NAS is reading or writing data constantly, it can be distractingly loud. In idle mode, though, the cooling fan is almost silent.

Yes its not looking good for your 2 choices is it, Don't worry about apologising, I'm used also use to making cocky people look stupid on here.
Looks good considering it's iomega. Make sure you use the right links for deals so people don't get confused.

Hi , where can you buy a brand new 1tb iomega prestige for £50?, thanks
COMARANTZ
If the company had faith in the product you would think the original guarantee of at least 1 year would be included. 3 months is simply not worth consdering if you are risking valuable data ! I have bought many refurb.tech. products but only with full guarantee. Usually most refurbs are new but can not be sold as that once the box has been opened..

I agree with you about short warranties on refurb products, but I would say it is the exception that refurb product carry the same warranty as a new product, most have a limited warranty

I would understand your reluctance to use as a "Backup Drive" if it was your intention was to keep backing up on a daily or weekly basis, whereas I would use it as a archive drive to free up other hard drives full of old files, which are on several hard drives. Over time I have replaced hard drives with larger one from 80gb to 120bg to 250gb to 500bg ( many files are simply duplication of older files) and dump all the files from the hard drives to one 1 TB drive so freeing up the old drives which can be used . my personnel view is I would never use a 1 TB drive on a daily basis to much data to lose at one time

But still nobody has come up with a cheaper drive

This is not a bad price, even with the postage. But there's no data I have that's valuable enough to store yet I'll entrust it to a reconditioned drive. OTOH, I can think of data that might be in that category - for example, DVDs that I've copied to the hard drive but still have the originals of. For some people this could be a bargain, and I hope the OP will post again soon.
We can all say it's not good value which may well be the case, but if its it not the cheapest just say where a 1TB Iomega Prestige is cheaper .. there nothing complicated in that . .you only have to search on this site to see it's not over priced I have seen a few within a few pounds of this price but none cheaper . .I am sure by now you have all done a search so let have some posting where they are !!

As for Attitude you only have to read from the posting down to see who has the Attitude which started with the first comment . . .What kind of a deal is this? There is no link to 'buy' at the site! It just says: 'notify me' !

So is it any wonder why some people decline from posting items when some people such as you unduly criticize them.

It is because people like you insist on posting so-called deals that are not deals! Have a look at your own profile and see how cold your deals have been, not once but several times!

I don't come to this site to gain "brownie points" if I see something that I considerer good value I post it, the fact that this product went out of stock when it was posted not my fault but if you wanted one, you give them your email address and they would send you a email saying when they had the back in stock, so where is the problem???
As for posting "Bargains" I am no longer going to do this, as not worth the hassle when I see at posted as at a price I will just comment that it cheaper some where else .. . Maybe when I see item out stock I should forward it you you so you can have a go out them so let hope you have plenty of room in your mail box

Its is a shame that people such as you deter people like me from posting .. . but hey not to worry I still log on to see if there are any bargains

comes up as 500gb for me too, would ring up customer services to double check if i was buying. Please note this is not gigabit its fast ethernet. gonna wait for some1 confirms its 500gb b4 i vote.
The generic description refers to 500 but I would expect to get the 320 that is headlined. If speed is an issue for NAS purposes then note that the disk can not be formatted NTFS. If this will just be used as a backup device then speed of disk or of network may not be important. If thinking of using it as a NAS for serving media files then I'd suggest further research.Note also the mention of "up to 4 users" which suggests non-standard aspects.

My invoice confirms that "Home Network Hard Drive, 360GB (NAS)" is being supplied

Expired now, but have had experience with one of these and found it very noisy and it would not back up via USB to an NTFS formatted drive (documentation and user interface is also pretty hopeless).
Very, very good price. Cheapest NAS deal in a while. H + R

EDIT: Did a bit of research seems this is really rather basic, has just 10/100 LAN, supports only FAT32 and has very limited hardware - http://iomega.nas-central.org/wiki/Category:Home_Network Probably OK for some people but too basic for most users.
Got one of these from Misco when they had um at this price. Works very well although sometimes when accessing it from Windows 7 it only partially lists the directories correctly. Easily fixed by pressing F5 and usually only happens once. Might also be cos of the amount of directories I have in there too.

The media sharing from this will only work with 360 and the shares have to be accessed directly you can't browse through the shares for some reason.

Great bit of kit anyway.
No mention of PS3 compatability. Looks like I'll stick with my slug
anyone got a code ?
