Damn that is a good price, recently played God of war 1 and 2, in the middle of 2 at the moment and am very excited for 3....though I played the demo last friday of 3 and it felt less fun...maybes I have played god of war 1+2 for too long in a short space of time lol but I feel less like buying 3, I will definately not buy it on release day, too many other games to play but I will buy it at some point...

All in all a really good price for a pre order,

Hmmm....you know what? I'm not sure....however I think I may just join you. Recently I have just not felt the desire to buy any games on day 1.

A good price however with the game being released on Friday the 19th March I would rather use a retailer who has the best reputation for on release day delivery or earlier otherwise it is quite easy for it to be stuck in the post until the following week. I would rather have it for the weekend at least that way I will have the time to play it rather than get it at the beginning of the week when I am quite busy.

Voted neutral.

Yep, they go cheap too fast now, I have never paid full price for a game since I was mad on the PS2, I think the last games I paid full price for were Kingdom Hearts 2 and Final Fantasy XII lol!

Seriously never paying full price again, a few weeks later they are £10-£20, I am finding it hard resisting some titles though but I will just fight it and wait, play all my other games, finish them all then spend money on new games....I really have lots to play still!

So I presume you have played the full version of the game, let alone the E3 2009 Demo right?! If so can I borrow your time machine?!
#10
Do you need to play the 1st and 2nd god of war to get to grips with this game or can you just pick up and play this without playing any of the otheres?

Played the PS Store demo and the 1st two.

The game will be good but will have zero longevity like all other hack n slash games. Just rent it

I would say it would be like playing Modern Warfare 2 with out playing Modern Warfare 1.

It will be an epic game like the first 2 were on the PS2, most people have played GOW2 more than once as it pushed the capabilities of the PS2 more than any other game ever had.

Watch the GT:TV behind the scenes special of God Of War 3 video to catch a glimpse of what to expect.

Up until now the developers have been quite tight lipped about most of the game, most videos on the net have basically just featured the E3 Demo from last year and that was just a small unfinished part of the game. There are a lot more exciting things to look forward to that they have not revealled yet, which I think is a good thing as most games seem to show all the best bits before the game is even released.

I never really got into 1 or 2, but the graphics alone of 3 might reel me in.

Yet again I might wait 6 months for the price to go sub £20

I would recommend playing the first 2 (and if you can, Chains of Olympus, which is a stunning little game for a handheld) before playing this. The story does progress throughout the games. I wouldn't say its essential to play them though. Unlike Bioshock 2, where I'd imagine if you hadn't played the first game, you really wouldn't know what the story was about at all!

this game will get game of the year so dont expect it to budge, plus it cost too much money for the price to drop so early and some of the ealy magazine reviews siad it was the best game theyve ever played

Only 'cause the magazines got it early.

To early to tell for GotY but this is going to be a contender.

Well I played the 2nd without the first, was told there was only a few links between the stories?

I will eventually play the first, just waiting for it to eventually be selected by lovefilm xD

On what grounds do you base your in-depth argument about the aforementioned game? :whistling:

I played the PS3 demo this morning. Quite good fun, never really played a hack & slash before.
#22
Hack & Slash can be good games if made well like the God Of War trilogy, but there are bad ones like Conan & Beowulf.

Also worth pointing out the demo is nearly a year old so the finished version should be even better.

found the demo glitchy, battered that wolf/snake thingy tons of times but wouldnt allow me to finish it off at all! annoying!

also tried Darksiders...not hack n slash fan but I enjoyed that actually, its like a puzzle game & platformer too

You need to use the right weapon on that beast, I use the Gauntlets instead of his blades and I then use the special attack moves with them on and I can usually defeat the beast straight away in less than a couple on minutes. A very easy demo indeed, it must be on a low difficulty setting as I can usually finish the entire thing in one go, only takes about 20 minutes.

I also noticed that if you use the Gauntlets + special moves on the downed Helious you can get past the guards that are protecting him and so do not need to use the cyclops.

There is a nice new German video up on GT.com showing 9 new minutes of footage including Kratos V's Posseidon.

Really...? so no Circle symbol appeared, meaning you have to get close to it and press circle to activate a timed button move event where you press a certain button as Kratos does his thing.

it appeared but wouldnt do anything, was like there was an invisible wall everytime I downed it again so couldnt get near

Changed my pre order to this one. Still hoping someone else will do it a pound or two cheaper in the next week or so before it comes out.

That's strange played through it 4 times and never had that happen, any way it was meant to be a Bata version, so hopefully it will not happen in the final version.
#31
The demo was a bit glitchy - I've played through it a few times in preparation for 19th March, but on one occasion the Centaur guy didn't come out of the door with the foot soldiers meaning the scripting wouldn't activate the next sequence.

I'm not worried though, it's an early demo after all. The full game when released is going to be out of this world!
