Well at this price I'm not going to bother waiting for the trilogy pack - much cheaper to buy this then getting God of War 3 later at a (hopefully) cheaper price.

Heat added.

Edit:
Annndddd ordered!

Last update:
Quidco tracked @ 48p so GoW Collection for a total of £15.64 if verified.

Much more appealing price for this package.

What do people think of re-releasing software tweaked for HD output?
It's a definite improvement on basic upscaling, but as proven via emulation these sort of results can/could be achieved using hardware.

I believe they would have a higher perceived value if the textures were replaced, but perhaps that's too much effort? Surely they have access to higher quality textures but downscaled them to suit the limited memory of the hardware at the time.

Well I missed out first time round so I'm delighted, looking forward to playing these on the PS3. Got my fingers crossed they do the same with Ico & Shadow of the Colossus...
#17
Cheers for this, Play order cancelled and 48p tracked via Quidco, well worth £15!
#18
excellent, rather pay £16 for this than £40 for God Of War 3, by the time i'll have completed these two GoW3 will be £20 :) ha

Tempting, but Asda's in my bad books ATM. Ordered a game as a present for my brother's birthday, still hadn't shipped after a week, had to cancel and buy instore costing an extra £8. Those of you unable to wait til 30th April could find yourselves waiting even longer.
#20
Do they charge you for this now or when the game is posted?

Always worth checking current stocks on The Hut as I believe they handle Asda's entertainment orders. They're normally fairly speedy on preorders.
#22
Surely the Trilogy should be cheaper than buying the Collection and GOW3 separately but it's not.....why?
#23
just ordered and cancelling play order as of now also thought gta liberty cities was a good deal as well

Trilogy edition will probably be more collectable, and worth more on the bay in a few years.

I sold my US import just over a week ago as I wasn't taken by the Collection at all.

A couple of years ago I bought the Special Edition of "God of War II" [PS2] from an eBay seller but never played it & re-sold again (at a profit!) to another eBay member. I have, however, played "...Chains of Olympus" [PSP] (albeit not for long) but I had not seen the first in the series until two weeks ago.

During my ownership of "God of War Collection" I gained two Trophies (in "God of War") & then decided the whole experience wasn't for me so I sold it on. I enjoyed the obviously God of War-influenced "Dante's Inferno" title far more, and that is on my list to buy (once GAME's "Death Edition" is the right side of £50).

As I mentioned previously (Comment #24 in "FS: God of War Collection (US)") the (E3) Playable Demo of "God of War III" I played through to completion twice but opted not to purchase that either as it annoyed me that you could not rotate the camera viewpoint around your on-screen character.

I have added "Heat" to this listing, but it not a product I will buy (again).

Just ordered but then after checking a video review it looks just like devil may cry which I hated and sent back to lovefilm in an hour. Is it all hack & slash?

(I also dislike the "Devil May Cry" franchise... and you've reminded me I have the first three PS2 titles to sell on sometime... soon).

Well, as I said, I'm no expert as I have not really played "God of War" to any length (and have not played the second title at all), but I found it boring.

I may have been "spoiled" with newer games but the game-play was just so reminiscent of the "Ninja Gaiden Sigma" franchise, "Afro Samurai", &/or "Bayonetta", and titles of that nature. I appreciate "God of War" was released well before the others but if you're not a fan of the "hack & slash" type (like you suggested) then I would say you may well be disappointed.

I have no doubt the games themselves have a great following & the story in each may keep you captivated, but repeatedly trying to get through a seemingly impenetrable object in the form of a mythical creature or god-like entity does get a bit tedious after a while (well, it did to me anyway).

There are other challenges as well, though, like having to push objects around to form a wall, or staircase you can use to reach higher platforms, but in the early stages all I saw was a generic button-masher.

If I had played for longer my opinion may well have changed, but I just did not have the incentive to continue. Many people 'rave' about the titles, so please don't take my negative viewpoint as the only viewpoint. Which video review did you watch?

I like fps mainly but loved uncharted so the puzzle aspect appeals but really hate generic H&S games like Prince of persia and DMC4.

think I will give it a go as hardly likely to lose much if i sell it on

thanks for the comments - repped:thumbsup:

I really hated Devil may cry and Bayonetta even more, but I couldn't put GOW3 down until I completed it.

It's not quite as simple as hack & slash. Different enemies require different tactics and weapon use, especially when there are so many of them on screen at once.

I'd recommend GOW, even if you, like me, aren't a fan of hack & slash type games.

Not a problem; there was no need for the "rep" but thanks anyway.

"Prince of Persia" does have a little bit more to it (or, at least, the next release, "The Forgotten Sands", will do) but yes, you are right, with such a low price to begin with the percentage lost on a pre-owned sale will be a lot less than buying "God of War III" & losing at least a tenner if you sell it on.

Please let me know what you think of the "Collection" once you have had sufficient time to form an opinion of the game-play yourself. Thanks.
