Are they saying it takes a week to arrive? Most retailers will get you the game for release even if you order a couple of days before...

I played the Demo (From Playstation Store) last night, its great but I felt I was looking for more.

The graphics are really good, but you still feel like your stuck in a linear platformer, I was hoping for something a bit deeper.

The demo lets you play just passed the 1st mini boss and a further mini game. Worth the download although it was 2.5gb.

You do realise that demo is well over a year old don't you?

Can't wait for this. The second is still my favourite by a mile but I think GoW3 will be incredible.

Over a year ? by all accounts it was relased Oct 28th ? But no I didnt know as I have only owen a PS3 for....5 days.

Regardless, My point was that I was dissapointed it was a linear platformer rather than having a more Sand box feel to it.

My apologies to anyone that feels I have wasted there time with old news.

And 25th Feb for those on Play Station store......

Demo
At E3 2009, the God of War III demo was revealed. The demo showed Kratos on the cliffs of Mount Olympus battling the undead, a centaur, a chimera, and a cyclops. Kratos does not fight Helios, but he rips the head off of Helios gaining a new ability called "Helios Beam" which can be used as a lantern in dark areas, a beam to blind enemies, and to reveal hidden secrets. It is also revealed that Kratos can shoot harpies with his fire bow and use them to get across gaps that are too large to jump or glide across with the Wings of Icarus. In the demo, it is revealed that Kratos keeps the Golden Fleece and the Wings of Icarus from God of War II, however, whereabouts of the Blade of Olympus are unknown.

Beginning October, 30, 2009, GameStop had special voucher codes for people who pre-ordered the standard or Ultimate Edition of God of War III.[60]

On October 28, 2009, SCEE sent emails to PlayStation Network members with an activation code for the demo.

Specially marked copies of God of War Collection were released on November 17, 2009 with voucher codes to download the demo.[61][62]

On October 28, 2009, it was announced that all copies of the Blu-ray of District 9 will come with a copy of the God of War III demo pre-loaded on the disc itself.[63][64] In addition, the demo with District 9 unlocks a special "making-of" featurette of God of War III. The Blu-ray of District 9 was released on December 22, 2009.

The God of War III E3 2009 demo was made available to all current (at the time) Qore subscribers on February 4, 2010.[65]

As of February 25, 2010, Sony Computer Entertainment has released the demo to download on the PlayStation Store in Europe and North America regions.[66]
Kotaku ran an article comparing the graphics in the God of War III demo to those in the final game, showing improved lighting and a motion blur in the final release.

imo the second one had better gameplay, except for the removal of certain powers. Poseidon's rage was only available as a bonus after finishing the game for example :(

Yes I know that, but the demo was created prior to March 2009. Sony just stuck the same demo on the PS store without updating it. It's still brilliant IMO but the finished game has been in development for a year longer.

True, but i'm still incredibly impressed and envious of PS3 owners :p
Will be interesting to see if the same level of visual spectacle can be brought to other genres, but i'd love to see Global Defence Force made on this kind of budget.
#24
Played it LOADS on the psp, so can't WAIT for a big screen version!

Downloaded the demo from PS network and it's brilliant!

Well worth a buy, maybe when the hype's died down though and it's a bit cheaper.

Heat added.

This is complete rubbish. All three of the main games in the series have been developed by Sony's in-house developer Santa Monica Studios. Chains of Olympus on the PSP was developed by Ready At Dawn under Santa Monica's supervision.

The only real difference in the sequel was a slight increase in the number of puzzles. Even then there probably wasn't more than a dozen in the entire game and the combat didn't suffer at all. If anything it was of an even grander scale and the overall number of moves/weapons was increased.

Fair deal by the way. I've got a lot of Gamestation credit, so I'll just grab it in-store on or around launch date.

um, what?

the only GoW game designed by a different dev team is the PSP game, which was done by Ready At Dawn.

SCE Santa Monica have done all 3 'main' GoW games to date, with largely the same dev team on board (certainly the same lead designers, etc)

dunno where you got your info from, mate!
