Seems like a great price for one of the most anticipated games on the Wii.

Designed exclusively for Wii, GoldenEye 007 allows players to channel Daniel Craig's lethal and gritty James Bond in an innovative, modern take on the legendary Bond adventure, GoldenEye. Blending fast-paced first-person shooter (FPS) action with covert gameplay, GoldenEye 007 epitomizes the modern "thinking man's shooter" by offering varied ways to complete each mission, destructible environments, the use of cover and multiple control scheme options, including the Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller Pro and the Wii Zapper. GoldenEye 007 redefines the multiplayer experience on Wii with unprecedented split-screen action featuring classic Bond characters and special game modes, as well as online play for up eight friends.

Only £1 more @ amazon.
#3
I hope they do the N64 version justice and don't ruin it with a typical wii control system.

Good price

This and modern warfare black ops in the same month non of my dissertation will get done ;)
#5
Failed my gcses because of the original!!!

Watched the film the other night and remembering the game. Anyone complete all the 007 cheat locks? The archives was crazy hard but worth it for invincibility :-)

i do not understand all the fuss about this game.
what's so good about it?
what are some of the modes?
how long is the campaign?
why is it rated so highly?!?!?!?!?!!?
THANKS

Sorry, but I'm not touching this with a barge pole, it's a remake and they are wanting £28 for it?

Had an N64, played GE to death 4 player (license to kill).

Unlocked everything in the original and have sucked at every fps since!

Hope they do it justice, but won't be pre-ordering for 29 quid. Might be the best pre-order price but doesn't seem that great a deal to me sorry.

Is this actually a remake? I thought it was Rare who did the first N64 game and Microsoft bought Rare
#11
yes it is a remake but obviously jazzed up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekGb8SsEcis

and bond is not brosnan, daniel craig instead
#12
It's not a remake at all. There will be references to the original, but it is a totaly new game. I've got a feeling this will flop
#13
I have heard good things about this from a mate that went to the London press event for this game, before that i was very meh about it but will be looking at this one very closely now release is approaching.

No-one else bothered by "GoldenEye 007 allows players to channel Daniel Craig's lethal and gritty James Bond"? Pierce Brosnan was 007 in the film...

But yes, cannot wait for this.

Think it says that because the Bond in the game is meant to look like Daniel Craig (and is voiced by him).

I greet this with abundant scepticism, not least because whilst a true remake of the original would be nostalgic, the genre itself has moved on significantly since the original and it has not aged well. What is needed is a downloadable re release of the original with cleaned up graphics and support for a dual analogue control system.

It was an excellent game with excellent multiplayer. It did not 'kick off' FPS games. For a start it was pre dated by the likes of Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem and Quake. It was the first notably successful console FPS, but long term it has shown itself to have significant shortcomings, not least the poor control system which was swiftly replaced on consoles with the dual analogue stick system. With or without Goldeneye FPSs would have moved to consoles because of the success of the genre on the PC. Goldeneye is notable for its quality and the fact that it entered the console market a generation earlier than virtually all console FPS franchises. But suggesting that it 'kicked off' the genre is way off the mark.

I played the last James bond shooter on the wii, the graphics were so poor and blocky it was hard to tell the difference between the bad guys and the bushes they were hiding behind...
100X better on the ps3..... the graphics would need to be a lot better to make a fps a decent game on the wii for me

Nostalgia......sort of.

Dont be fooled though, you play the original now and all you will get is a huge pile of steaming ****. This game is just cashing in on said ****

The orignal did support dual analogue on the N64, providing you had 2 controllers.

I'd buy this in an instant if this were out on the Xbox 360, assuming it's a remake / updated version, rather than a reboot or reimaging as i guess this is likely to be.

I must have spent hundred upon hundred of hours on this game, and this is partly responsible for the amount of gaming i still to this day.

However, it's on the Wii, so graphically it want be that good, and from a controller point of view it will be awful (Wii + FPS = nightmare!)

Nintendo would be better off putting the original Goldeneye on the virtual console........Will never happen for 2 reasons:

1: Microsoft own RARE
2. Nintendo will make more money this way with a shameless cash in. £30!!

Nintendo are not making this game so will in fact be getting less from this release than a VC release. Nintendo have also tried to get the old Goldeneye on VC but due to Activision now owning the bond licence and MS owning Rare its a legal minefield. A deal was in place to get the game be released both on VC and Xbox Live but fell through at the last minute.

This game will be a letdown if it only Supports Nunchuck and wiimote controlls; mark my words.

You can use the Classic Controller if you wish.

Whilst it does seem a bit of a step backward to go from an 'interactive' control to a pair of thumb sticks and some buttons, I hope this makes it to the final game as it would be so much better. At the very least as an option. I agree with Rhys, while the Call of Duty control was about as tight as it can get on nunchuk and wiimote, it's still not natural for FPS.
#28
This should be called "Call of Duty: Golden Eye" judging by the videos I've seen.

007. Legend.

Which will be the bigger flop? This or Conduit 2?
I'm undecided on this so far, hopefully they will try to improve upon and reimagine Goldeneye and what made i so good rather than shamelessly riping it off.
The Wii fps market is there for the taking tbh, so it'll be a travesty if someone doesn't get their act together and make a decent game.

What with all the comments about the controls? You lot are firmly mired in the past if you think future fps games will stick to standard controllers. With Move coming along more games will be designed with these Wiimote-esque controls in mind. It's the future...embrace it lol.

and Goldeneye will never be on XBLA because Nintendo won't allow it ;) without a good price ofcourse anyway
#33
I think I'd rather get the original out of the loft or buy a 2nd hand N64 for £20. The graphics are dated and really show their age.

When is Conduit 2 due?

Loved the first one, brilliant example of how to make an immersive, control-friendly FPS on the Wii, hopefully 2 will be just as good :)
