I know this is very off topic, but does anyone use google family library? I'd like to share games like this I've purchased with others but I'm in no way willing to use a payment card that they can then all use without asking! I've ordered a pockit card to see if that works.

Set it up with your payment card, but during set-up, you can specify that a password is required for every purchase, i.e. all family members will have to ask you to make a purchase on the account.

Interesting, I read that anyone over 18 would bypass any password requirement?

EDIT: Looks like only in-app purchases can have a full restriction for over 18s, not apps themselves.

All paid content
Family members need your approval for all purchases made using the family payment method, including paid apps or items sold inside apps. This setting is only available for family members ages under 18.

You can't control the spending of anyone over the age of 18 on your Family Library.

In game ads I think, no other difference I can see in the blurb

Pretty sure you can enable family sharing for specific apps, just don't setup a family payment method.

Thanks I will give this a try - I have over £16 to spend on Google from the survey rewards app

I was under the impression a payment method was essential to set it up? Will have a look.

Yeah I believe so, but I don't think you have to share it with other users on the account

Okay thanks, I'll have to check as I'm pretty sure my missus tried to buy an app - went to the payment screen and was asked for a password.

Try the Pockit card. Or just use an old credit card and cancel it/report it lost

Keep us posted though coz I'd quite like to know myself

What I did to get around this is put a prepaid topupable MasterCard on the family payment settings.

Just choose password reqd every purchase I've done it this way for 4/5 years now & not one accident yet (unlike bloody xbox live)

Not sure that works, implies you can't stop anyone over 18 using the payment card for apps just for in app purchases?

Just tried my pockit card, got an unspecified error and told to come back later.

Yeah, they're a bit hit and miss. Same with Entropay. Some places just won't take prepaid cards. Try a credit card and report it lost. They'll send you a new one in the post with a different number. I do it whenever I need to buy something from a dodgy website (ahem)

Added some funds to it last night and tried again today, still no joy. Oh well!
