sorry that the heading leaves a lot be desired, this is my first post

needed a replacement 11" netbook/laptop as my samsung nc20 been nothing but trouble, two major repairs under warranty thats now expired and twice lost contents of hard drive for no apparent reason

so it was this laptop or the acer 1410/1810, this won on the price for me

This is amazing for the price!!!

Much better than a netbook and in teh flesh, these DM1's are lovely!

Very hot from me
#4
Why is the processor only 1.2ghz? Surely that's pretty slow?

A what sorry?

its ultra low voltage processor, this notebook will out perform any netbook with atom/via etc i should think, good for playing HD movie files etc and other HD content a normal netbook cannot

this deal is about £70 cheaper than anywhere else i could find, has good write ups etc
#8
Nice
#10
why is this cold?
#11
Plonkers trying to keep it from appearing "hot" until they get 2-3 ordered for themselves to flog on fleabay. That and technophobes who can only see the word "Celeron" and think "that's a bit old and crap, innit".

Cheer up mate. A great find for the price. Have some H+R from me
#12
Arrgh, I want to buy a netbook and that's the sort of spec I'd like! But ideally I only want to pay £200 max :'(
#13
probably people voting who dont understand the specs or its best useage, god knows, but has come down significantly in price and is a good deal for those that know and like this type ultraportable

if the cold voters could suggest a better alternative in same price bracket i'd be keen to know whats out there

I don't understand how this isn't hot. Its a great deal.
#16
doesnt matter people dont think its a great deal, those in the know and in the market might still find it, even if one other person finds the post useful is cool by me

i cant wait to get it delivered, then this samsung nc20 can go on fleabay
#17
This is a great deal. Voted hot.
#18
Looks very good to me.

I voted hot, but depending on your requirements, an HP Mini 311c for £230 might be a better deal - only an Atom N270 CPU, but with ION graphics - better for HD playback and gaming, although slower for general windoze stuff.
#20
i read that this would perform better with the processor on a forum and also handle things like youtube HD and Flash 10 HD content better

Im no expert tho just what i believed from reading around, this seemed a better bet all round too
#21
Ordered thanks OP! Great deal
#22
Was going to spend a lot more on a 'cutting edge' netbook with one of the pineview processors.
However, with DDR 3 Ram, a 7200rpm HD and dual core processor, this won it for me.
Great deal too, it's £350-£400 on a lot of sites...
#24
laptop arrived, very impressed with it,my old samsung nc20 is nowhere near as good as this, my housemate has just ordered one after trying my new dm1 out, go get one if your thinking about it
#25
Now £313.87 delivered :( my bad when i double check they added some extras, still £279 delivered.

Ordered mate thanks.

can anybody confirm whether this HP DM1 is capable of playing 1080p videos smoothly and stutter free? H.264 MKVs and WMV HD etc, Flash HD and Youtube HD 720p & 1080p etc, all the myriads of 720p & 1080p videos? (obviously with appropriate codecs & players), and also output via the HDMI to a bigger screen? and is the CPU usage high when playing HD? thanks.
#28
battery life is a bit rubbish for a ULV processor.
#29
Anyone use one of these?? I have banana hands and I wondering if I would struggle with the keypad? Was thinking 13inch might be better for me but haven't seen a good deal in ages for one of those.
#30
nice find have a little heat buddy :)
#31
very temting to buy this and not pay £200 to get my out of warranty hp laptop fixed..
#33
Yep, excellent price and decent spec. Have just ordered on m'self.

Many thanks and heat added.
#34
Cosmetically pleasing it might be, but you would not expect battery life to be so poor for a ULV.

Probably only 1.5 hour in real world use.
#35
battery life has been 3 to 4 hours at least, surfing, downloading, youtube etc
that said, i like using this size laptop laid out on sofa while watchin tv so i tend to av it plugged in mostly, but battery has seemed fine when not plugged in

remarkably improved sound and screen over my old nc20
#36
ordered mine for a gift nice find hv some rep
