Hot? I think NOT!

Would it be possible to connect a Virgin set top box to this? Or would a Virgin HD box (with HDMI) be required?

Like buying an old, badly converted skoda and expecting it to work as a limousine.

For about another tenner you can get an awesome 28" (I know I use it myself), although I paid £240 when it was on offer at overclockers

Sorry, but you're an idiot just for saying that.
If you can get me a brand new 26" full HD screen for £120 in 2/3 months, I'll give you £200 for it...

Well, that was a joke to be honest.. ;)
Actually, some time ago bought this 24'' Yuraku MVA(!!) LCD for 200 quids (I think this was posted on HUKD around a year ago?) and I am very happy with it!

Theres been a cheaper one at Aldi last week - and better
There'll be even lower prices for TV and electrical goods in the months to come mark my words
They'll HAVE to

Can't you read ?
He said - RIGHTLY - in 2-3months
And he's not wrong
Where've you been ?
The bottoms dropped out of the electronics market ad they're desperately trying to keep the prices up, but they're falling steadily anyway

That would be true if the Pound hadn't devalued against all of the financial markets where these products are made. Sadly they're more likely to hover around much the same for each latest new products to market, as retailers have to slash profit margins to compensate for rising costs and lack of consumer confidence. Luckly companies like Comet who have traded on massive profit margins for too many years will be hit worst though...

Where have I been?
Oh nowhere, just on the net every day checking prices of electrical goods. I buy and sell equipment every week, I think I know the state of the market.
But if you actually agree with his comment you're as much a fool as him.

And post the specs of this 'better deal at aldi' as I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

Anyway, glad to see this deal earning more heat, which it deserves.

This the one you were talking about?

Considering the low resolution, perhaps you can tell me how it is 'better'?
They are actually different products. The Aldi deal is a cheap LCD TV with low resolution, while this comet deal is a full HD PC monitor with HDMI.

Lol, best joke I've heard all week.

Jukkie, I totally agree with your comments. Can't believe people are stupid enough to think that the price of 26" monitors is going to halve in 2 or 3 months. If 26" monitors are going to be £120, are they going to start paying you to take away 17" monitors?

Electronics prices are on the rise in the UK, not a sharp fall. Retailers are vastly cutting margins to increase sales while their suppliers are upping prices. The TV i bought in October has shot up by £150!

IIyama are horrid, I bought a 22" last year that developed 2 different faults in the first month I had it, and getting it replaced was a nightmare. Then the replacement went faulty 3 months later.

Their only cantact info is an email address, their T&C's are nearly non existent, and their website looks like it took 2 minutes to create.

I wish anyone purchasing something from them the best of luck.....not that it will help much.

Just got this and hooked it up using a VGA cable. Runs wonderfully at 1600 but cant seem to get it to run at 1900 is this down to teh VGA cable or down to my 8800gtx 765mb graphics card? Should I use a HDMI cable? Even at 1600 the image is fantastic. Voted hot. Any help appreciated on getting it to run at 1900.

Thanks

Oh mine seems fine, except the 1 stuck pixel i have but dont really notice that anymore. Got afew awards

Sorted. Got it running at 1900. Used a DVI cable and fiddled with nvida control panel and desktop settings. About ten minutes to set-up from getting it home. Like a kid at Christmas.

BTW got a small discount of £10 by asking nicely. Ordered online and collected in store. Said I forgot to put a discount code in and got £10 off my order which included a multifunction printer.

Great deal on a big screen.

Unlike Quidco, Top Cash Back also give 4 percent on click and collect which brings the price down to £240 if the cash back is honoured.

Well, here we are almost 6 months later, and the price of this monitor is still £249.99. In fact I can't find any 26" monitors for anything like £120.

So I guess you were wrong...
