Description:

Based on the true life best seller 'Wiseguy' by Nicholas Pileggi and backed by a dynamic pop/rock oldies soundtrack was named 1990's best film by the New York, Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics. And it earned six Academy Award Nominations.

Robert De Niro received wide recognition for his performance as veteran criminal Jimmy "The Gent" Conway. And as the volatile Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci walked off with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco, Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino also turned in electrifying performances. You have to see it to believe it.

Great films but the actors all play parts which are at least 10 years younger than them.

This is a terrible transfer. Artifacts and lossy audio.

Ummm, not really! Hidefdigest have given it a 4/5 overall. And audio gets 4/5!

So you're wrong mate!

No "mate" I'm not I have it. I also got duped by WB into buying the 20th anniversary edition to replace it which turned out to be the same terrible transfer.

Its pretty well documented on plenty of credible forums and sites. Hidefdigest does not sit within that category. Anyway unless you personally mastered the audio you've no reason to take offense.

still £5 in store at tesco on bluray at the moment, never seen it but may have to at some stage

Are you still here? Have i made any indication i am taking offense?

The only thing that annoys me is when people like you post comments regarding audio/video on a post, without actually reading the facts. Hidefdigest is the best when it comes to solid blu ray reviews, but obviously you didn't know that. Sorry fella, but you are making it too easy for me now...

So know your role and SHUT YOUR MOUTH! :P

Ill rephrase my completely unoffensive tip. I guess you can hug your (factual) review.

The audio is not lossless. Its 640kbps dolby 5.1 thats a fact, its on the case in black and white. Its very muddy at times and has bad separation.

Theres a vertical black line down the screen in 2 scenes. Theres aliasing in sweeps. Theres smeared textures and obvious compression artifacts in the darker & club scenes, If really necessary I can get my disc out and give you timestamps.

Oh sorry, i didn't realise you cared that much! I'll back down now, because i don't want to hurt your 'feelings' LMAO

Great price. Got the Blu Ray already and can tell everyone the picture blows the dvd and vhs editions out of the water. Must have for any film collector.
