You can connect TV, DVD, Aux, VCR to playback in stereo with virtual surround sound. Looks like it has a speaker out socket too, for connecting a sub-woofer?

edit - lol just realised that i posted this in the wrong topic!! :giggle:

Wish I had seen this when I ordered all the surge protectors I ordered last week.... could have had free delivery!

Im gonna get one to connect to my tv.

Free delivery from Ebuyer up until 12 noon for orders over £49! Be quick!
#4
Won't the 'speaker out' connector for connecting the other speaker, rather than for a sub?

I think you're right, although the speaker system has its own amp. I'm not sure, perhaps karlosblanco can let us know when his arrives :)

Umm... I have just realised what that speaker out is for  It's for the other speaker on this system

Hehe ;-)

Great looking but why can you never seem to find anything about them on the WWW.

Goodmans are cheap quality, usually but they might be worth going for but nice to see what others found after they had bought them.

Dunno about the built in Radio either.

Just as I was about to checkout I added £6 phono cables, but before checking out i rummaged through my boxes of crap and found several pairs of phono stereo cables :-D

Voted hot Rayman damages my wallet once again
Ordered this + the belkin surge 4ways and other bits
This was NOT free delivery at £49, but was at £99+ so free delivery
#11
Thats because, as I said, the free delivery ran out at 1200 noon.
#12
Right, sorry for being to lazy to ready everything :)

Free delivery still there @ £99+

...And you get a bunch of cables with them (2 x scart to stereo phonos, 1 x stereo phono-phono, by the looks of the pics on Ebuyer).

Just though I'd mention these after setting them up and testing.

Their IR sensor commands seem to be very similar to toshiba's, if you have a toshiba television these speakers might annoy you.

But compared to standard speakers on a standard tv they are definately superior, but can't match the detail of a basic £100 setup of a basic amp and bookshelf stereo speakers could do.
But these are quantity over quality really with far more overall dB from these floorstanders than you would get from small bookshelfs, but these are only 2x50w, but is worth it if your living room needs a boost in audio.

The inbuilt radio is about on par reception wise with a cheap £15 matsui thing (i have one in our bathroom) sound wise its nicer in stereo and more depth than those of course and does a half decent job, but with the 4 phono stereo inputs on this, you can always hook up your own radio (those cheap dabs b4 xmas for example)

The cheapest thing of this set i'd say is the remote/buttons and radio/remote chipset mostly, amp and speaker wise it'll beat any other floorstanders + amp combo that could possibly exist for under £100 imo.

The supplied phono/scart to phono/scart cable is awful and does not work properly, they have a seperate shorter pair of proper phono to phono stereo cable.
Used that short pair and my own pair to hook up the Sky FTV and dvd player and used a phono to mini jack cable I had spare too hook up cd player that is there or anything with minijack stereo out like mp3 players, laptops etc.

Free delivery on ebuyer £49+ orders Till monday morning i think

Definately worth £25 considering what anything similar could cost £60+ minimum elsewhere and the fact it was free delivery on a heavy 24kg item (i ordered 2 and other stuff during week for £99+ free delivery order)

Thanks for the review on these schizoboy :) Very helpful and also the free delivery info.

Mine arrived this morning. CityLink were supposed to deliver yesterday but for some reason best known to themselves they took them back to the depot. I complained to Ebuyer - they apologised and refunded my delivery charge. So I got the speakers for £25.

Using them with a 40" Samsung LCD TV and the sound out is considerably improved. I know Goodmans are not an expensive make but the quality of sound is better than I expected. Appreciate they're not going to sound like Denons or anything like that but they are still far better than the TV's speakers.

Using a Daewoo Freeview box to listen to digital radio stations and this has a clarity and depth of sound that you just don't get from a DAB radio (something to do with method of modulation & bandwidth I believe). Very impressed listening to Virgin and others that we can't get down in deepest Somerset on FM and which were just okay coming out of the TV speakers.

The built-in FM radio isn't bad either. Just using the hard-wired fm aerial (piece of wire about 1 metre long) I can pick up all the BBC and some of the local stations which means the receiver is quite sensitive as we live in a poor signal area for an internal FM aerial. At least 20 stations can be programmed into the memory. Haven't tried AM - doesn't seem to be much point.

The remote is a bit on the small side but all the keys seem to be quite logical to use. The number of different inputs to the speaker amp is quite good meaning I can plug in the TV, the Freeview box, the DVD and still have another input left over for an mp3 player which I haven't tried yet. In addition, of course, there is the built-in radio. Quite versatile. In addition to the standby on the remote there is an on/off switch at the back of the amp which is very accessible. No need to leave it on standby using up watts when its not in use - just flick the switch.

The supplied leads aren't that brilliant so I have used my own gold-plated RCA/phono cables and that probably helps the sound quality. You can get decent gold plated cables on ebay for not too much.

All in all I'm really pleased with this purchase and so thanks Rayman I will vote this hot (if I haven't already) and add a thank you.

Thanks for the review Pugwash :) That makes three of us at least with pretty much the same opinion on these. I was surprised at the sound from them and the radio. For £25 a bargain! As you say, it won't replace true HiFi equipment, but decent sounding/looking stereo speaker system.

Also got the Belkin adaptors and camera tripod for someone in the same order to make it free delivery. Good service from eBuyer and follow up customer services too for you ;-)

I didn't try out louder settings till yesterday.

I was surprised at how good they were loud, they can't go v loud though drivers can't handle it.
But for £25, unmatched.

Complete bargain for any TV setup without a hifi attached.

i like the look of these..especially the price...but i also saw these http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?lang=&submenu=&menu=&product_id=21935&session=2d64b31c3d30e7e73c8c776767781697
i quite fancy surround sound and a subwoofer appeals.
anyone help me make up my mind?
#24
shanecr personally I'd recommend getting the goodmans and upgrade to rears and centre later on.

Those small satellites won't match proper speakers.

Dont bother with those shanecr, on the boxed it will say sumit like 2500 watt speakers but what counts is the RMS (Measured in watts aswell). These will have a couple RMS per speaker MAX. These goodmans speakers produce 50 RMS per speaker. I bought some similar speakers a couple years back thinking fantastic a cheap set of surround speakers. they are now sitting in my garage picking up dust.

Ordered mine over the weekend along with a external hd so i got the free del, otherwise i think p&p is £10. Shoudl arrive tomorrow, cant wait :)

Great find Rayman!! THANKS!!
#26
i went to order a set, and it says free delivery on orders over £49.99 so i bump my order up with a plasma tv stand....and sure enough it brings it up.....but when i get to checkout it whacks on a delivery charge of £16!!!
Now im not so tempted
#27
The default delivery option on the pull down menu is the most expensive one.

£49+ order free delivery is on weekends only (so far, that might change) and is on the cheapest and slowest super save delivery, I was estimated at 30/01 but arrived on the 27th. So the estimated is a bit ott.

I think during the week free delivery is on £99+ orders.
#28
Thanks again for the feedback guys :)

Just tried out the £49 free delivery and it's definitely on again ;-)
#29
The speakers are only as good as your amplifier, sound equipment, wires etc

Anyone on a budget, you can't complain! imho
#30
Indeed for £25 it's great, albeit a simple amp, still worth it, makes all these small mp3 speakers look appauling in value.

These speakers
+ long version of:

= lovely combo for anyone with a pc/laptop/mp3 player etc :)

Personally I have no need for them, but that's a hot deal.

yup, i get that, but when i go to checkout i get that message
#35
shane are you in Northern Ireland? Shetlands or similar?
#36
That could well be the problem, as I went through to checkout and it would have accepted payment right now. Must be an area issue...
#37
i stay in the scottish borders. 60 miles north of newcastle and 40 miles south of edinburgh. i do lots of ordering online and never had any problem like this.
#38
Very strange.

Have you had Citylink deliver to you before shane?
#39
yup. they delivered a motorola k1 phone i ordered yesterday as mentioned in other thread here...another hot deal i had to get!
#40
Perhaps it's something to do with the weight and delivery area?
