Great price - but i think you get what you pay for with this one - cheap rubbish - check out the reviews on amazon.
#2
Where does the under £125.00 come?
Sounds too cheap to be true.
Been looking for one of these, what does anyone think please?:?
#3
For that price, I'm tempted, even if I only use it as an external hard drive. Having a look at reviews though....
#4
Hi and welcome to HUKD Simmo81.:)
Good first post mate. Seems a very good price.Anybody got one?
#5
Up to 2.5hrs battery life
Could do with a bit more battery life, but you can't argue at the price
#6
battery life of 2.5hrs is very little.... the unit is huge, saw one in makro.... too bulky for your pocket as its over an inch thick.... for a little more i would purchase something else......

edit: just saw this posted at MSE, hope you the same person, otherwise u need to give credit if u found it there.....
#7
Thanks for the post Simmo81 and Welcome to the forums!!!

Not been on MSE today, find this site to be much better, but if it is on there as well, sobeit, guess whoever it was on there has been on goodmans as well!

I had been looking via search engines at the 3GB Goodmans player posted ealier by someone on this site, and came across the 40GB PVR by chance

Well I for one think it's an incredible offer and have just ordered one. I will be able to connect it to my in-car dvd/radio/cd player for full mp3 control, record off tv, it will be great for music, file storage etc. And since I got the Acer 20Gb mp3 player recently for £50, it's all I'm going to need for on-the-go entertainment. I'm going to tell all my friends and fasmily about this offer as well.
#10
I think I ordered the last one, now out of stock.
#11
Doesn't support native divx or xvid. Means you will need to convert them before transferring files over.
#12
According to the spec, it converts as well.
#13
I bought one of these nearly 2 years ago, paid around £200 for it at the time and got rid of it after a few months.

Battery life is less than 2.5hrs for movies, MP3's don't sound too good and the software conversation from xvid/divx is flaky to say the least. However for £59.99 you can't really complain as it doubles up as 40gb storage.

The software supplied for the video conversion is extremely slow and the player suffers badly from lipsync problems.
#15
Plug a 'lipstick' cam in to this and off you go!!

A lot of these PVR's don't seem to have video in - this one does.

Light weight - easy to make waterproof - no moving parts - CHEAP!
#16
Would this device be suitable to record from a bullet camera, for in car footage purposes? ...via an AV cable?

#18
Yup. I'm sure you wouldn't be videoing yourself breaking the law though ;o)

Would be a bit awkward if the feds caught you with some incriminating evidence...

If your looking for a decent cam then try this one - HD-230CWX - Sony 520 High Res 3x Zoom Bullet. Broadcast quality. It's sold under a few different suppliers names in the UK - most ramp up the price and re-label them as their own. Sold on this website - http://www.qvcvideo.com/main/products/?category=13&bcat=54

Looks remarkably like the Mustek PVR-140 which I bought from cpc last year (£117).

http://cpc.farnell.com/productimages/cpc/standard/SB0297806-40.jpg

I returned my Mustek after 2 days as it would only play .asf files, which had to be created using the supplied software, and it didn't do a decent job at doing that.

I'm going to order this anyway as (a) it's half the price I paid and (b) there might be improved firmware now. So thanks to the OP :)

It's Goodmans.........say no more. Cheap tat.

Is there new firmware? If so i fancy getting one for my camera bag for viewing photos.
#23
come on guys ...is it any good for watching downloaded movies,tv shows etc
#24
Just ordered one. Thanks so much for this !!
#25
Paolo - surely there are moving parts in this.

40GB Flash Memory.... Err>!>?!
#26
It'll be a 3.5" HDD, as well, hence the cheap price. Which means it'll be absolutely huge.

A deal is a deal, but then there's a time to slap yourself round the face and remind yourself what you're actually buying. In this case, a load of rubbish.

You have to re-convert all downloaded movies and tv shows. Even on a 3ghz pc it takes blooming ages with the software supplied.
#28
But if i convert them on a pc first would that be best?
how about thingd directly from a tv ....do you have to convert them aswell on the pvr or will them play directly without converting?

The specs say Main Unit:80 x 110 x 30, which is more like a laptop drive + enclosure.

I got a cheap 2inch screen SD card PVR from ebay a year or so ago. Great for recording tv, and the .asf files played ok on my PDA.
I admit that converted films to watch on the PVR lose video and audio quality though, but those recorded directly look fine, even hooked up to the tv.

Seems out of stock, but would consider it- 40GB over my 1GB SD cards.

BTW- Mustek, Goodmans, Ministry of Sound, Alba (now Acoustic Solutions).. ALL the same company.

Have you read the amazon reviews? It got less than 2stars. They crash constantly. The battery lasts 2hours. I would just get frustrated with it. Lip-sync too. More £60 wasted than anything saved if you ask me.

I dont want to put a downer on this but I ordered one on friday 9th feb for a delivery yesterday, I stayed in all day and guess what?, it didnt turn up :x , I have e-mailed them twice, once yesterday mid aft and then again this morning after spending over 25mins on their 0870 number to customer services without getting a reply!!.
Theyve had the payment for it, it went from my credit card a few minutes after I placed the order. :x :x

I just dont know what to do next.
#32
