Goodnight Sweetheart - Series 1 - 6 DVD Boxset

Featuring all the episodes of Goodnight Sweetheart ever made!

Meet Mr Gary Sparrow, just an ordinary bloke with an extraordinary life; almost a devoted and attentive husband, and a sometimes loyal and dependable best friend. By day a very bored and uninspired TV repairman, and, by night, an accidental time traveller extraordinaire. Among the anonymous streets of Whitechapel you will find a strange alley called Duckett's Passage. It looks to you and I like any other alleyway, but for Gary Sparrow it leads to a war torn London, to barrage balloons and the Blitz, and, in particular, to a little pub called The Royal Oak, to a lonely barmaid called Phoebe...

Episode commentaries from series creators Laurence Marks, Maurice Gran and writers Gary Lawson and John Phelps. Exclusive interviews with Laurence Marks, Maurice Gran, Christopher Ettridge (PC Deadman), Dervla Kirwan (Phoebe, series 1-3), Emma Amos (Yvonne, series 4-6), David Benson (Noel Coward) and Elizabeth Carling (Phoebe, series 4-6).

Starring Nicholas Lyndhurst, Goodnight Sweetheart became an instant hit with TV viewers of all ages as it charts the life of Gary Sparrow, a dealer in memorabilia and antiques of WW2 who has miraculously discovered a portal in time which allows him to travel between the present and wartime Britain. This handy little trick obviously adds to the success of his business but the complications that it adds to Gary's love life are a different matter!

OK ... I can see where you're coming from and the storylines with Noel Coward etc were strange but all the same, it was a fantastic series and I love watching the odd episode now and again.

Michelle Holmes, yeh she was "Sue", her first movie. She only plays Yvonne in the early series though (1-3 i think)

Shame they never did a follow up series - say 10 years later after the war. Would love to know happened to Sparrow.

Yet more comedy without the laughs...not worth picking up at any price

She was an attractive girl...although I was probably about 10 when it was on telly ! =D

The replacement just seemed a bit dim and lifeless. =[
#25
how can anyone rate this? An insult to the word comedy.

I know some that enjoyed this when it was on, but then that's no proof of quality. Actually thinking about who those were, it's probably the opposite. ;-)
