Meet Mr Gary Sparrow, just an ordinary bloke with an extraordinary life; almost a devoted and attentive husband, and a sometimes loyal and dependable best friend. By day a very bored and uninspired TV repairman, and, by night, an accidental time traveller extraordinaire. Among the anonymous streets of Whitechapel you will find a strange alley called Duckett's Passage. It looks to you and I like any other alleyway, but for Gary Sparrow it leads to a war torn London, to barrage balloons and the Blitz, and, in particular, to a little pub called The Royal Oak, to a lonely barmaid called Phoebe...

Special Features:

Episode Commentaries from Series Creators Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran and Writers Gary Lawson and John Phelps.Six Exclusive Interviews with Laurence Marks, Maurice Gran, Christopher Ettridge, Dervla Kirwan, Emma Amos, David Benson and Elizabeth Carling.

I worked for the company that made this show. It was a bit of fun in the early ones, especially when Dervla Kirwan was playing Phoebe, but even we couldn t believe that the BBC commissioned 6 series! Heat for the price as it's a lot of TV for less than £18 quid but (although it feels like I'm being disloyal for saying it) there are a lot of better DVDs to spend your money on.

Its the whole concept of going back in time to WW2, keeping 2 women, the different times, decent story. Then the cast of Lyndhurst, Dervla Kirwan, Jack from Bread is a good 1. Not the funnest comedy though. I must have seen them all though

It did go on a bit, you're right. There wasn't really enough content in the idea to last six series. Some really good episodes though.

They should have finished it when Dervla Kirwan left, certainly... the other girl was awful =/

Agree this was a 2- 3 season show at best.

When both female leads leave the show; Dervla Kirwan and Michelle Holmes at the same time then you know the show is done and dusted.

I stopped watching it when the two female leads left as the two they replaced them with were bad.

Think this set it worth £9.99 due to the quality of the show, not voting either way.

I never saw the appeal of the hero. He was repugnant, travelling through time to pork a woman old enough to be his great grandmother, behind his wife's back. I would buy this if someone can confirm that the finale sees him getting his comeuppance, I would imagine this to be the nazis getting a hold of him and shooting his philandering little plonka face off.

I loved the concept and humour, it was a great bit of escapism at the time and a unique opportunity to combine war era stuff with modern references.

In the last ep he chooses to go on shagging Phoebe and writes a message to the future on his wall so that when they strip the wallpaper it comes up.

Ahh.... used to watch this show. I enjoyed it quite a bit until the replaced the two leading ladies. I have no idea if the other seasons were any good but it's still a good price.

I found the replacements to be annoying although, at this point, I really didn't make much of an effort to watch the show and haven't seen all the episodes. I watched the first series recently and it was pretty good.

Good to see no-one is posting spoilers here!
