All promotional material I've had with my Google Checkout odrers (eBuyer and I think it was the cartridge people) has said it ends at midnight on June 10th.

If a levels weren't depressing enough...

Well its been good while it lasted!

Can't say I'll use it after though, you loose all the wesite specific benefits of having accounts with them.

Eg
aria points
Ability to change delivery address at ebuyer (they wont change ones for google checkout)
Easier order tracking (IMHO)

So thats the end of it for me (for now anyway!)

i posted this hours ago and had my post pulled about 10 mins before this one was listed. would have been nice to have been credited!

it officially ends at midnight on the 10th june, but has unofficially been extended to midnight of the 11th! i'm guessing this is to give merchants time to remove creatives on the monday. order before the end of the official deadline to be safe.

Seems strange that this is getting hot votes... I't the worse news I've heard in ages!

One thing I can say though is that ebuyer has seen it's last purchase - well, attempted purchase - from me! Jokers!!!
#17
vote cold, this is not good news!!!

Hot for useful info tho.

Same here, will avoid eBuyer unless they offer any item that's priced too good to be missed!
Placed about 30+ orders during the promotion & saved 300 pounds thanks to Google!

Interesting web stats analysis of Google Checkout rise and fall when they did this same promo in the US ($10 off $30) and comparison with PayPal.

Was chatting to the guy at aria, and he said google are invoiced for the full amount. So everytime you order its costing google £10, theres no agreement to share the cost between them and the affiliate shop !!! I just ordered all the bits for 2 new pcs separately from ebuyer and aria and saved £80, at £5 per item after delivery charges - which mount up more if you order separately.

Shame its ending cos ebuyer and aria are two of the cheapest shops, although the scan deal a while back for lifetime free delivery was also good and helps to take the pain away !!

Can you ask him if £10 of that invoice is Adwords credit? :) I can't get a straight answer out of anyone (not that it matters really). I just can't see Google paying £10 out for every transaction (not just new accounts), they pay out even if you use again and again which indicates they are not too worried about restricting it - and what's the value in the additional transactions from the same person? Maybe a bit but not £10 worth by anyone's reckoning. Also, they brought on loads of no-name merchants which indicates they weren't looking for merchant reach/penetration.

Just to clarify that the link given (http://checkout.google.com/buyer/merchants.html) is NOT a complete list of merchants involved in the promotion.

Some are involved in the promotion and aren't in that list. It seems Google haven't got around to adding all merchants for some reason.

Well, it could actually be a Hot deal. A long shot but, perhaps we'll see some last minute price cuts to entice the buyers come the 10th? Let's face it, when google checkout ends, stores like ebuyer are going to see a dramatic drop in purchases so, you may just see some last minute deals here and there.

I'd like to think they'd do some last minute deals to coincide with the ending of the checkout but I guess it's more likely they'll come after it's ended.

Anyway, wishful thinking, voted hot because quite frankly the information, as basic and glaringly obvious as it is, is gold.

Google checkout, best thing since sliced bread.

Don't take the moaners word for things all the time. While I admit ebuyer has more than its fair share, I've not once had a problem with them, everything is delivered on time and the one time I needed an RMA (purely because I didn't want what I bought), then collected the item for me, and gave me a full refund...

... and it wasn't even their fault!

(just posting this to apply a fair balance to some of the posts above, I don't work for any company mentioned in this thread)

I would think that the reverse will be true for Ebuyer and Aria, as thousands (maybe more) of new customers must be pretty good for business. I would certainly like to know how much extra business came Ebuyers way whilst this promotion ran.
I think I will continue to use google checkout as there is nothing worse than having to fill in new account details and then waiting days to see if your credit/debit card details pass the stringent security checks that some online firms tend to do.

any merchants not shown on google's site that are doing promotion?

You can have alternative delivery addresses with GC :)

id like to know what google checkout is - ive not used it, and i dont think id use any of the sites that this 10 off 30 is good for.

and its fine saying you saved 80 quid with google checkout - but you spent at least 160 quid still.

is it like paypal??? so you can accept payments into it, but as ebay dont allow you to use it (for obvious reasons) it really isnt worth bothering with.

Do any of you guys spending all that money at Ebuyer seriously believe you *saved* £10 for each order? Remember Ebuyer cancelled free shipping on orders above a certain amount as soon as the deal came on and some prices went up. At a conservative estimate I would guess you only saved around £6 per order. Better than nothing I have to say. It's been good business for Ebuyer and even better at getting google checkout recognised and businesses wanting to use the system.

I ordered 3 times from ebuyer, it was the cheapest price each time I could find, so I would say 'yes' I have saved £10 each time.
#33
recently ive found ebuyer's prices not competitive at all, no free delivery makes it even worse.
#34
Does anyone have the link to the list of UK merchants giving £10 off through googlecheckout?
#36
Personally cant wait till it ends , im buying items i dont really need just for the sake of it lol...

I already try my hardest to go without a day where I don’t buy anything and this Google checkout makes it hard to resist lol
#37
I have saved a fair few bob with this. Also, had no problem using multiple delivery addresses when using GC with ebuyer.
#38
Is Google Checkout still going to be going and if so what's the advantage of using it going to be if you can't get the discount?
#39
One of the retailers is The Sports HQ. You get a further 10% off with quidco plus is you go to the normal checkout and put YAW in the discount box before going back out and going through googlecheckout you get another 10% off. So something that was £30 is all of a sudden £14.
