I don't get the point of these. My two TVs do this without the Chromecast. Only any use if you have an old non-smart TV.

You just answered your own question. Not everyone wants to invest in a new telly, and at £18, there's every point in getting one of these.
Heat for a great deal.

Can I watch movies from my iPhone with this

You can't screen mirror - but you can still cast to the Chromecast using apps like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu etc (as long as it has the Cast icon)

that's why android phones are much better!

Loved Chromecast when it first came out but think a fire stick is a better investment. You can also use it on hotel wifi and side load Kodi. 90% of the time you're probably streaming YouTube and can do that on either. There might be a few apps only for chromecast but fire stick is better! This is a deals site though so voted hot!

Is there a workaround for using an iPad/iPhone to cast Sky to your tv using one of these, in browser for example? I'm sure I read somewhere that you can't use Sky's app directly for casting....

Good price. Already have version 1 of this and use it all the time. Got this one to replace it so I can put the other one in daughters bedroom. Chromecast audio is worth getting too. :D

Kodi works perfectly with a Chromecast. No need for a separate remote as you use your Android device. I Haven't tried a fire stick yet. Are you able to cast stuff on your phone (photos, videos, music, Google+) to a TV with a fire stick?

Voted hot. Thanks for sharing

Was always torn between getting this or a raspberry pi because in terms of consuming content on a TV they do the same thing.

Quite different things really, depends what you're putting on the Pi, and that will obviously cost more! And a massive faff.

Don't *need*....

Get a VicTsing HDMI wifi dongle from amazon for £20. It airplays to all apple devices. Much better than this stick.

My Samsung smart tv allows casting but my laptop doesn't have the facility. If I get this, can I stream my laptop screen onto my TV? Not just Internet browsing and movies, but the whole screen for Ms Word etc too?

Your two TVs do this for as long as the manufacturers decide to support their apps. Also, good luck popping your TV in your pocket and taking it on holiday with you.

I think BT sport blocked casting on the free trials of the app (like the 6 months from EE) but you are OK with the BT Sport App on BT Broadband, I'd check before buying.

You can't cast with a smart TV you can mirror, which isn't the same.
When you screen mirror a lot of the time the lips are out of sync wit the voices.
Chrome cast solves all them issues

From reading previous threads about the BT sport, it wont work. Let you stream on the tv etc..
No experience of trying it but just from memory of reading previous threads on the BT sport/App
