Just had three delivered from the Curry's Ebay store for the same price with free delivery.

Set them up in about 5 mins for all three and then grouped them on the app and opened my music and clicked cast to group.

I was going to spend £0000s on a Sonos setup but thought i have decent speakers anyway so why bother £60 later and its sorted.

well I've got a smorgasbord of speakers. Onkyo (av receiver) in the living room. Harmon kardon sound sticks in the bedroom and bose soundbar in the kitchen. had to get 3.5mm to RCA adapters for the Onkyo but that was £1

Did this too when they were £15s in Currys. Excellent flexible multi-room set up! Great for streaming but wish I could send any sound source to the group.

what do you mean by any source? different music apps? I've only tried the one associated with my phone (Z2) but it works. eventually I will have a tablet with all my music on but my nexus 7s are too old and too slow now. what apps/programs don't work then?

agreed! so frustrating, I can't pair CCA to my existing Chromecast on my TV. I have to buy another CCA to plug into my soundar... anyway still cheaper than Sonos, good alternative, have some heat. Who knows, Google might even come up with an update to pair all CC dongles!

Don't forget this does have optical out too. Just buy the small 3.5-Optical out. Think they were £1.25 for two.

It goes into the 3.5mm jack, of the Chromecast.

Have five of these in a multiroom set up, working great. Just make sure you don't power the Chromecast from the speaker's USB (unless you can keep it far away). Mine get a lot of interference like that.

I'm thinking of pairing a set of Edifier speakers with this for my living room - will also use an optical in connection for my TV - anyone find anything better and as flexible in that price range? (under 200)

As mentioned, LocalCast works great as does BubbleUPnP. You can then use almost any source and have it beamed over to the Chromecast.

Google have annouced their event to take place in just under two weeks time (Oct 4th) that they will use to show off their new devices. I know this includes phones but I wonder if there might be a new version of this. Still hot from me though with the 2 for £35.

The lag is a bit irritating between pressing play and the music starting, also seeking has lag. It doesn't cache songs either so there is another pause before the next song. Many apps don't support casting audio like poweramp or youtube so you have to cast the phones audio instead which is a half baked fix.

It's OK but limited in its uptake and support, the general public just dont get it and prefer to use inferior Bluetooth.

They'll reveal more on Google home which will be a modified chrome cast. I'm just hoping Google home will still interface with chrome cast audio

I use google's play music and it works perfectly. I would like it if I could send all sound from my phone to the chromecast though - like when connecting to a bluetooth speaker so that sound from games/music/video would all be shared. I couldn't work out a way of doing this when I set it up but some of the suggestions further up may help. Either way, these are excellent when grouped.

Just checked - yes

EDIT: although its pretty crappy as a music source due to its limited content. however it is free with your prime I suppose

Use the Google Cast app and go into cast audio - not perfect but will work

I know this dead topic but would like bit of quick info. If I connect this to TV can I them stream sound to Bluetooth headphones or iPhone with headphones connected to it.
