Is this really a good deal? Just under half price for refurbished two year old phone that will struggle with the new OS updates?

What deals do you have that are better?

What's that got to do with anything? It may be the cheapest you can get this, but that doesn't make it a deal. For example, I wouldn't pay £250 for a two year old iPhone 5 just because it was half the original price

I'm not criticising you, just the value of the deal. I would be looking at maybe the Moto G or HTC Desire 510 for less money with a 12 month warranty, for less than this. Just my opinion that's all, don't get upset

This doesn't struggle at all with the new update, in fact it runs better than it ever has! Smooth, responsive, and better battery life...

Great deal but get the 16gb :)

Certainly smashes the S3 Mini, and you don't have to upgrade to Lollipop if you don't want to :)

If you want the 'proper' or 'pure' Android experience, Nexus phones cannot be beaten. The latest Samsung offerings wont be anywhere near as smooth as a Nexus 4, yes, it's that good.

Battery life on this phone is a little suspect though. The battery life on my Nexus 5 is fairly poor too.

Not upset, just challenging your comments. Where can you get a Moto G for <£100 at the moment for example other than rare in store deals, or how can you compare at HTC 510 to a Nexus device when they are a million miles away?

I have a 2 year old N4 that i have owned from new and it is on android 5.0 and has no problems with it at all. Its a great phone and for under £100 its a cracking deal.

Never heard of the company. A year ago I might've been interested but now, a refurb from a non-mainstream seller for a 2 year old device doesn't appeal to me. I was thinking about the N4 last year but the battery life made it a no-go.

I loved mine.

Ultimately the awful battery life saw me ditch it though.

Good price this.

Heat.

I'd strongly recommend avoiding the 8GB, as this has no external storage.

I've had to get rid of mine because of that limitation.

bought same one year ago, great mobile, still using, not changing any time soon

should've root'd and custom ROMd
massive improvement in battery life with the right ROM, lasts as long as you'd expect any modern smartphone to ;)

Same for me. Bought a refurbished 16 GB Nexus 4 6 months ago to replace a broken Moto G. Very happy with purchase and did the OTA update to Lollipop last week. Its seems to run even smoother now. Battery life is so, so...but lasts a day so works fine for me. Can't see the necessity of spending more money at the moment...this looks like a good deal.

I think (for Android) these are decent enough phones, but hamstrung by the lack of microSD storage - for that very reason we are going to flog my daughters 8GB and she is happily using a Moto E, with a huge microSD card stuffed full of A LOT MORE of her favourite music and a much better battery life. Could have been an incredible phone but this decision by LG has, in my opinion, hampered the phone.

Haven't voted either way.
#25
Voted hot. Want a 16GB, but no stock left :-(
#26
Just got Lollipop update and it runs smooth! No glitches like Nexus 7 and a friend reports lollipop on Nexus 5 not great yet.

A good way of getting Android 5 for under £100

Not sure if battery improved much since update but all apps seem smooth and a little quicker

whats the condition like? doesnt mention if it has marks/dents etc

Nexus 4 owner here. Battery life seems fine for me, even after nearly 2 years. About a days worth of usage, par for course like any modern smartphone. Lollipop improves battery life too.

Not sure why some people think this phone will "struggle" with Lollipop. Runs fine, if anything its smoother!

And I would recommend the 16gb, as a few gigs get eaten up by the OS.

Not an iphone. Cold.

I rather stay with KK SGS2 than "upgrade" to N4.

It's still performing perfectly well, far better than new phones at about the same price. Plus, it's not a Samsung with TouchWiz.

Nexus 4 owner for 2 years. It’s a decent phone overall. Main issues are no expandable memory, over heating when using 3g, no 4g compatibility. I treat my electronics very well, however the glass back of my Nexus 4 shattered as my thigh caught a table corner (phone was in my pocket). Originally it ran super quick but as time has progressed and more OS upgrades have come out the performance has gradually dropped and certain apps like Chrome and YouTube well intermittently crash. Also you can’t remove the battery which will deteriorate over time. It’s a premium looking phone with some minor gripes that might be exclusive to mine (the lock and volume buttons feel a bit spongy and the headphone jack isn’t great). For £95 though it’s an excellent choice.

My Lumia 1020 arrived yesterday (£144) and that feels excellent. The build quality is better than the Nexus, the camera beats the Nexus to a pulp. I like the tile interface and how easy and ordered everything is to access. It’s early days but so far I prefer the Lumia, although the Nexus served me well and if you like Android the Nexus is great. Overall the Lumia feels like a finished phone while the Nexus feels like it's a Beta product (albeit a very good one).

Amazing phone even though its 2 years old at this price.
Had my Nexus 4 since release and performs great for what I use it for even with latest OS Lollipop.. compared it to my Mrs new S4 mini.. she still prefers my Nexus 4 over the newer phone.

steal at this price.. heat added

Good value for what is still a decent phone that can run the latest OS, heat added :)

I'm pretty sure it will be able to handle Android 6. Android One devices are weaker.

Mine is 2 years old and the battery 'just' does a day. If it doesn't its because the gorgeous screen gets you to do too much browsing instead of using a tablet.

Mine got indigestion with KitKat and kept crashing - had to get a Moto G (1st Gen) as a stopgap. Lollipop is a revelation. No crash so far, smooth as silk, better than new. The Moto G superseded. At this price it is a steal. (If only I hadn't bought my wife a 8Gb last year at more than twice the price).

The main issue is no 4G.

I've had a nexus 4 for two years and now running lollipop and it's like having a new phone. totally awesome. highly recommend at this price. For active with a Chromecast it's worth mentioning that since the lollipop update you can now cast your screen to Chromecast, meaning you don't have to rely on Chromecast compatible apps and I don't think only a handful of devices are able to do that.
