Plus import fees postage etc.

Spring 2010.

its not US only, but once you add 17.5% VAT and possible 6.5% for something else, you're upto over £400. assuming it gets pulled in customs of course...

nevertheless. seems pointless and unnessary. Just wait for a UK release and save more money; unless ofcourse, your rich or have money to waste.

Plus customs in this country are a joke, you will get slammed by imports

better screen than the iphone, better camera than the iphone, thinner than the iphone, lighter than the iphone, removeable battery unlike the iphone. etc etc

Not sure about the screen - certainly smaller and yes I would love removable battery, however:

By the time anyone gets their hands on these, apple will have their new iPhone out.

Saw a video review of this phone - seriously trying to copy iphone os but not as slick.

It'll never have as much support from app developers and to be honest who could be bothered to replace their existing apps that just work on their iphone.

It looks like a very interesting phone, I have been using the HTC Hero for a little while and its a very nice OS but I don't think it will ever match the iPhone in terms of popularity. The iPhone has the cool factor of being Apple which people love. It's nice that its available sum free, its just a shame that us in the UK don't have a true price, I would order but I know I will get hit with import and administration charges. Also the US version doesn't support multi-touch, lets hope there will be an eu version that does.

Can I have next weeks lottery numbers since your crystal ball is so accurate....

You have obviously never used Android (especially with HTC Sense interface) if you think its not "slick"

Without getting into the whole debate.... in a head to head apple wins some, android wins some.....

I have an android HTC Hero so appreciate any competition to the IPhone however it can hardly be classed as a brilliant phone, just how long has it been out for?

OP jumping on the bandwagon to be the first to post about this phone I think.

I'm delighted that there is a phone that might take on the current iphone. It might help to reduce the current iphone price, that's until the new improved iphone comes out and wipes the floor with this.

Guys, thanks for your opinions. I am using iPhone 2G for about 2 years, and was thinking to replace it with some different phone. But won't upgrade iPhone to 3GS, as it is same :( interms of looks but with some new functionalities. Definitely I will buy this phone very soon. I have only created this post to have some opinions before purchase. Ta

Definitely available to order to the UK; here is a breakdown of the costs: http://whatnewmobile.com/android/google-nexus-one-how-much-does-it-cost-in-the-uk-349-plus-a-little-extra/

Basically, the phone costs around £330 and the website adds shipping costs (bringing the cost to about £349) plus a country-specific adapter (no point in having one of these though as it's a standard microUSB charger). When ordering the page warns about VAT costs at 17.5% so that would bring the cost up to £411!

As a phone, I think this is better than the iPhone (it's incredibly fast and responsive from all the hands-on impressions) but the iPhone has better apps for now.

over on endgadget who have done a little review, leaves me a little disaapointed. I love the android premise but was let down by the actual real life road test.

Web browsing / rendering was painfully slow... Was still only tested on a early handset, so tweaks on the OS should hopefully improve the phone.

I still feel that the iphone, is that little bit slicker, with itunes and the app store...winner in my book !

....but itunes is awful

The iPhone most likely is a better phone but i really want to get one of these. Hopefully when my contract expires in May one of the networks over here will have this on a competative deal.
#33
This looks like the phone I have been waiting for.
Yes the iphone is sleek in use but has plenty of limitations and your tied into itunes which for me is not what I want.

I'm not even sure how to answer this apart from just compare the respective app stores. The slogan 'there's an app for that' is pretty apt in Apple's case. Games in particular are MUCH better on the iPhone than Android and the choice of apps is simply greater. Not to say that Android isn't catching up but it's not even close yet.

The HUGE difference might be when Flash 10.1 comes to Android in the next few months; the recent demo on the Nexus One playing a game on miniclip.com looks promising although I think there may be a processor shortfall even on a phone as powerful as the Nexus One. However, I can see people producing dedicated flash-based websites for Android games and that would be a killer.
#36
The iphone has more apps, which doesn't always mean better apps. I was all up for getting this model, but I'm not buying into Android until they get the multitouch situation sorted. Its vital for gaming and for interaction and this model doesn't have it.

Milestone would be great if it wern't a motorola!
#37
I love my iphone but hate itunes :x
Appstore has over 90,000 apps
Android around 20,000 and rising they reckon by summer it will even stevens.
#38
Agree with apps its the quality not quantity that counts!!!

@ domokun.... is it android or the handsets thats the problem with multitouch? Because I have it on my HTC Hero running android.
#39
Iphone has its plus points but at the end of the day its let down by itunes and its **** lock down and its lack of change physically. Im using the G1 and it is a good bit of kit - not 10/10 or quite as good as 3gs (close) but at least I can pull the battery if I had too (never had too) unlike people I know with the iphone that have had freeze probs.
Iphone may be cool but this looks much better on paper. Guess ill have to wait for the new iphone to be completley objective but this v 3gs with its years out of date 3.2 megpixel camera (why ?) original housing and facelift facilities - no contest as far as im concerned....

Google aren't saying. most people are leaning towards Apple legal involvement. UK/European versions of Android phones have been shipped with MT, but US versions haven't. The Nexus doesn't seem to have a multitouch version for the EU.
