Hi All,

This is my first time posting so bear with me. I got this deal for the google pixel through USwitch for the 32GB phone for only £32 a month. The upfront cost yesterday was £119 but today they have dropped it to £25. The vodafone contract includes unlimited minutes, unlimited data and 24GB data. From what I understand this contract directly through vodafone would cost £25 a month. So essentially you are getting the pixel for £192 - if i've done my calculations right.

Let me know what you all think!

Edit: Thanks nathan for the suggestion. If you work it out by removing the cost of the phone outright for a monthly cost of the sim it would be £8.08/ month for the contract.

Voucher Code: Thanks macachy1 and mavericks for posting: the code VC15OFF for 15 pounds off upfront cost works.

32gb is not enough nowadays with the cameras that are on your phone. Be prepared to move videos and photos off the device every 3 months

Google offers free uncompressed storage with the Pixel. It will automatically keep the photos and videos in the Cloud and delete them off your device.

That's one way of working out the cost :D I normally minus the cost of the phone from the total cost for 24 months then divide the remaining value by 24 to get an effective monthly cost of the sim :)

How much?!! Is this to tempt Apple fanbois with too much cash?
I'm going to stick to OnePlus for double the capacity at half the price.

Any phone can be unlocked with service provider now. Some charge some don't. You must request it from provider and it can take up to 7 working days.

Very good deal but they've just announced a new Pixel will be out later this year, probably in October. Prices may drop further.

Will they do the same for all your apps and system updates?

Yeah that phone is going to be upwards of £800 I reckon. The Z5 Premium has barely come down in price in the 18 months it's been around. Also the massive top and bottom bezels are a put off for me. The one feature I love is the 960fps slow mo. But with it only being in bursts it kind of cheapens it.

If I'm paying a premium price, I want a premium product. From the various reviews I've read, most recommend purchasing the equivalent iPhone for the same price. I know there's a risk they were paid by apple to say that and I'm not anti android, I just thought they were supposed to be the "same technology for less" sort of company but they've upped their prices and not their game.

Whilst expensive, a general consensus is that it is one of the best android phones on the market, but a little safe and boring (can be a good thing if that's what you're in to).

I personally see little argument that the pixel phones are worth less than the other flagships. Also in my opinion, the choice between pixel and iPhone 7 is entirely down to whether you want iOS or android, rather than hardware related.

The argument goes that Google jumped in to the top-end of the market before establishing a reputation at that price point - and with what has turned out to be largely a "buy in" of a design HTC did for themselves!

If I wanted a premium Android I would go for an S7 personally - at least it has some track record! Or alternatively an iPhone - just as expensive but with lots of pedigree!

Risky from a business perspective. Doesn't make a difference when it comes to performance, software and hardware though - which easily competes with any top end android. Google are a big enough name when it comes to Android for me to trust, plus reviews have been solid.

May just be me. If Tesco developed a phone, if it performed great, the brand wouldn't put me off.

Galaxy s7 is a great phone though.

I am big fan of android but if I had to pay the same price as apple then I would not buy google pixel. The main reason is they only support phones for 2 years max while with iPhone I am looking at about 5 years.
Now if google supported upates for 5 years then yes I am happy to pay the high price.

Battery doesn't last as long as my old Nokia 3410 and that's 10 plus years old

Awesome phone, most tech YouTubers use this as their daily.. Well the XL version at least. (MkbHd etc). Software, performance and camera are the real highlights.

That says more about the development in battery rather than mobile technology

I recently was forced to make a decision on a new phone. My nexus 5 kicked the bucket after just over 3 years. The pixel was £600 in the shop SIM free, and the iPhone 7 was £580. Although I'm an Android guy, the pixel just felt really poor value with inferior build quality, and no particular water resistance of note. I'd have paid maybe £3-400 for it but it's well overpriced imo.

After swithering over the iPhone 7, I decided in the end to go for a Samsung a5. I thought the non vanilla Android and Samsung crapware would get to me but it's a really great phone for under £400 and three software isn't intrusive. Better build quality than the pixel imo.

I recommend actually trying these phones or in a shop. You don't save masses buying online and it's nice to try them out...
