Arguably the best smartphone around, that comes at a price.

I'm gonna wait to get this phone when it follows the scenario that the nexus 6 did. When barely anyone else bought it as it was too pricey for a Google phone forcing google to slash the price....

Best androidphone around is still the z3 compact. Just about everything else is a phablet.

Whats so special about the phone for it to cost 600? cold

I think they need to knock a couple hundred quid off these phones! What on earth was Google thinking with their pricing.

i would like to see how many phones Google have sold.... terrible strategy unless your phone is revolutionary, not the case here...

Quite a lot actually which is bizarre.

Although speaking to a lot of non tech people they think of the device highly - its strange but i guess it all plays into Google's pockets...

So Google taking the apple route ?

Bring out a standard phone not ground breaking by sounds of it and then add 250 if not more to the price.

Would love a OP3T for £180 that deal certainly would go extremely hot.

Probably comparing it to the Pixel XL which is right as they are both 5.5" flagships. Saving is only £320 though :p

Well, Google will have sold a load to themselves so that all their staff have one - that is about 60,000 people. Then there will have been discount deals for other large corporates buying in bulk. Would not surprise me if a big chunk of their sales are heavily discounted corporate sales.

For the 128GB Pixel XL it's £819.99 - £439.99. How are you getting £320 or £420??

Its £380 saving for the same 128gb version.
I was comparing it to the 64GB version of the OP3T :

Pixel XL 128gb £820 --- OP3T 64GB £400 saving £420

just been searching, can't find a new nexus 6 for much less that £300 , used just under £200 . so still holding price

Awhh I was wondering thought you had a mega deal up your sleeve lol. Although go back few weeks and everyone would have said get a OP3. Just shows how quick OP decided to stop making a device which worries me still as a brand. I'll stick to my Nexus 6P.

Check the reviews, there's plenty out there that state just how good the phone is. But like i said, it's arguable because some will still have their favorites. I have 3 friends who own this phone, and i may get it myself when my contract runs out, all are extremely happy with it. (all three are "techy" people too, for what that's worth)

Yep the OP3T is overpriced (at least in the UK) IMO but a bargain compared to this Pixel.

These people claiming that the Pixel is an average phone, haven't been anywhere near it. I've been rocking my XL for about a month and it is incredible - lightening fast, beautiful screen, fantastic camera and Google Assistant is fantastic. Good luck finding a better android phone.

I'm actually on the stance of it is a great phone and as said the best on the market at present. Now let me flip that comment, coming from a Nexus 6P would I pay the price difference for those extra features well no lol. Coming from anything else I would change with a heart beat. So really you might say taking value for money I'd buy another 6P and even over a OP3T. (My head still worries about how quick they stopped the OP3 production and you can't beat Nexus devices for proper updates, monthly security patches and access to beta)
Also dunno why they dropped two front facing speakers in favour for one. Friend bought one and the speakers don't compare to the 6P's.

Problem Google has is its generally offered very good phones at a great price, people seem reluctant to accept premium from them, but it's ok for the likes of apple. When in reality both phones cost a very similar amount to make.

I'm totally happy with my 'free' s7 edge and Gear VR......tell you what though.......this VR lark is amazing!!!!.....was looking at the pixel....no sd card slot and just a bit dull looking.....was expecting a lot more from a design aesthetic point of view......but each to their own :O)

You're saying that Google do not provide their own phones for their staff?

Be a tough call next year when hey fix the problems with this such as no waterproof and stereo speakers then I'll probably switch from iPhone unless the 8 is something special. I've got a S7 Edge but all the crap on it slows it down so much after a few months!

Nope, they've been given free phones in the past, but it's not a frequent occurrence. They 100% don't get a discount. Speaking from personal experience and a quick search.

Problems so to speak come from waterproofing though. You cannot have a replaceable battery, without headphone jack you can also make a device with smaller top and bottom bezels. We all know the "outrage" when Apple did away with headphone jacks!. Waterproofing also means more costly repairs should you ever need anything replaced.

I'm still very against phones with SD cards and can certainly understand why manufactures do not want them on the devices. Remember from Android 6 on wards you have adoptable storage plenty of complaints can be seen from people about phones slowing down after update to 6 onwards all forgetting or not understanding that once you adopt the memory the phone will read and write and the fastest speed acceptable by the adoptive storage which will more than likely not be anywhere near as fast as the memory on the device itself. If you don't adopt the extra memory isn't of much use and a lot of apps cannot be placed onto the card for security issues. For photos as one example you have no need to worry about the storage as you get free Google Photos at full rez for free with the device. Most of us stream video/music now so really you are looking the storage for apps.
Still think the biggest thing everyone forgets when comparing to any other devices are the OS updates and monthly security updates.
Though still as said in my previous comment I still wouldn't upgrade to this from my 6P!.
