I've seen quite a few "professional toasters" and none of them look anything like that.

why cold?

Because it has Gordon Ramsay in the title. It's a bit too much to expect people to vote on the merits of the actual deal nowadays........(_;)

Not because it has his name in the title - give people a little more credit. The toaster is nothing like a professional one and the two reviews at Amazon say it's poor. Cold.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice, high quality construction, bad design, 24 Sep 2010

While visually attractive and of seemingly high quality, the toaster slots are not sufficiently deep to toast the top of even slightly oversized bread slices. This requires turning over the slice and retoasting. But by looking at the construction of the toaster, it appears that there is more than enough room to have the bread slices lowered further into the slots.

Also the hidden element "mica board" toasting design, while giving noticeably more even results, tends to dry out the toast more than conventional open-element designs.

What we find rather ironic is that Mr. Ramsay's reputation for quality and things that work correctly, I am wondering why or how he would lend his name to such an obviously flawed appliance.

This review is from: Gordon Ramsay Professional 2 Slice Toaster (Kitchen & Home)
This toaster looks good and does toast very well. In addition, the option to choose to use only one slice at a time is excellent. However, given that it is a fairly large toaster it was very disappointing to find that the slots are not tall enough to take anything other than a normal white sliced loaf. The larger farmhouse type loafs protrude by about 5 cm above the toaster so it is totally inadequate and in fact I returned the item.

579 people giving it 4 out of 5 and 320 people giving it 4.5 out of 5.

Where did you find that information?.

If its from the link above the ratings are for the retailers not products.

Like I said, people don't vote on the merits of the deal. I suppose you can find bad reviews for pretty much everything Amazon sell. Bottom line is if the toaster is crap then you've got 28 days to send it back free of charge and get a full refund. The deal was posted purely on the price that Amazon are selling it for, compared to the prices of other retailers.

But it is ugly enough!

My wife bought one of these without prior research. She bought it because it has Gordon Ramsay's name on it, thinking it would do a good job, and also its styling suited our kitchen. What a shame that it isn't a good toaster. I like the options it has, and it feels like a quality item, The problem is that the toasting slot is just not deep enough, so that even small slices of bread do not get toasted along the top edge. The least you can expect from a toaster is for it to toast the whole slice. Come on Gordon, if you put your name on something then make sure it lives up to its promises!
