Not sure if this has been posted before but it is worth mentioning again. In my local Asda they had Graco Junior car seats for £12.50, an amazing bargain! They also had travel cots for £12.50 but i can't remember the make.

Wow!

I thought I'd found bargains in my Asda. I'm going to ring around to see if I can locate one.

Heated & repped

Edit - Oh & I'm sure that these were £25 in Asda last week?
#2
Wow that is a bargain

Excellent price - you'd pay more than that for the booster seat on it's own! We've got one very similar to this and it's a really good seat.
#4
The travel cot is RedKite, bought one last week at £25. :x
#5
Hey, good price, the cheapest I could find about a month ago were £20 at Toys R Us & these are Grace too
#6
good price, but can anyone confirm this is the price in all stores?

I think they are just the leftover stock from their recent baby event -so unless your store has leftovers from that then you won't be lucky
#8
Really good bargain.
Got one of these when they were £25
Excellent value.
#9
wow, away to phone asda see if they still have some left..
#10
do you think they will honour the new price and give a refund?

I bought two at £25 during the Baby Event.
#11
can you order it online?
#12
Anyone know if any North Lancashire branches have any?
#13
Can't see it online - sorry
#14
£25 in Eastbourne's Asda too
#15
Still £25 in the West Bridgford store.

I think they'll only be reduced in the smaller stores
#16
I spotted mine in Doncaster's store which is a larger store. Maybe if they are £25 in other stores, it will be worth checking again tomorrow, as it is a good sign they will be reduced soon

Cracking deal. We've bought four of these; two for us and two for the grandparents to use (but paid a lot more)Good build quality and the kids love the drinks holders. Have tried others but nothing comes close.

This is what Which consumers association says

Ten inferior child car seats exposed by Which? in the past two years are still on sale.

Mamas & Papas supplies three of the poorest - the Navetta Carry Cot, the Elan and the Passaggio - while Britax manufactures three - Cruiser Plus, Ranger and Trio. The others to avoid are Concord Trimax X-Line, Meggy Kombi, Storchenmühle Starlight SP and Graco Junior Plus.

These seats all meet current minimum legal standards but under Which's more stringent tests, were found either to offer inadequate protection in a severe crash, or are difficult to install, which increases the risk of injury in an accident. They are better than no seat at all, but if possible buy a safer seat as soon as you can.

To meet the standard, seats must withstand a 30mph crash, without a child sustaining serious injury. Which? uses EuroNCAP crash test conditions, with a front-crash test at about 40mph and also a side-impact test.

Which editor Malcolm Coles says:

'We're very disappointed that some of the seats we exposed as inadequate as long as two years ago are still on sale.

We think simply making child car seats safe enough to pass the minimum safety test is downright irresponsible.

We asked the manufacturers why they still sell these inferior seats, but some just hid behind the regulations, while others failed to answer our questions.'

However these are practical seats and my kids liked them but they are not the safest. The concerns are mainly around side impacts. If you have side curtain air bags then maybe this won't be an issue.....

Are there actually any seats which have received good reviews? I'm scared of buying a seat for my son, it's all very confusing!!!

Britax 2-3 ultra got really high marks. I bought the Isofix version when I read the Which report and a child my kids knew was killed in a side impact...you think an accident isn't likely to happen but unfortunately they do.

To be honest the best thing to do is to take out an trial online subscription to Which - print off all the reports you are likely to need then cancel at the end of the 30 day trial

....

not sure it should matter but did the article specify why this seat was not deemed safe? I am thinking if it is down to the complicated installation then it is only dangerous when not installed properly..?

Anyone know if any North Lancashire branches have any?

Bought one at Fleetwood store this morning. Only two more left!! Excellent price
#26
£25 at three stores in the North East (Teesside). Be aware these seats are for ages 3 and up......
#27
None in Milton Keynes store. Was told by an assistant that they were £25 in a promotion that ended on Monday. We're never £12.50 in MK store. Perhaps your store was knocking them out half price on top of promotions price to get shot of em?

Thanks anyway!

I bought one in our local smaller store for £12.50, then went to the big WalMart down the road where they were still £25; as I had my receipt for the other one which stated £12.50, they honoured that price! Very pleased!

Bought 2 for my 2 boys - in stock in trowbridge asda thanks OP heat and Rep added.

sorry

not listed in 2006 report you need 2005 report

http://www.rsa.ie/publication/publication/upload/p48-50_child_car_seats.pdf

it basically says that the graco seat meets minimum requirements i.e. front crash at no more than 30 MPH

it does not pass a front crash at 40 MPH and also doesn't pass a side crash at all

nothing to do with the fitting by the way

The model Asda are selling is the Graco Junior not the junior plus, if this makes any difference. After reviewing all the information on the link from Which? I can't see any car seats that are fantastic in a front collision anyway in this group. Yes, ideally all children should be in a 5 point harness, but for those on a low budget this car seat has got to be better than no car seat, or a second hand one.

Well you can try..... if they don't and you have your old receipt Asda have a 28 day moneyback return policy you can buy them again at £12.50 and return on the old receipt at £25 each. Therefore paying only £12.50 each for them ;-)

The main issues are around side impacts. If you watch the test video below you will see that seats (that provide little side protection to the head) result in the head impacting on the door.
http://www.which.co.uk/reviews/child-car-seats/page/how-we-test/

Which? do say any seat is better than nothing but the purpose of the seat is to protect your child and this fails to do that for side impacts.
#34
Child safety worth more than a bargain, will give this one a miss. Still hot though
#35
loads in Southampton town store :)

:My kids are 6 & 9 and sit comfortably in these with still quite a lot of growing room. Fitting them in a five point harness would be nigh on impossible unless it's an adult recaro seat!!
The seats are great for the older children and for parents who don't like the idea of switching to a booster.

Yep, mine are 8 and 6 and would much rather have them in these than a simple booster; will leave my 3 year old in a 5 point harness for now though!
