Does anyone know if this can rewind live TV?

...also can it possibly record two channels at the same time - more specifically if I have two programs which I want to record, which overlap each other, can I record both???

any major problems with firmwares on these boxes...i recall reading somewhere some Digihome's are very prone to crashing/freeze-ups and/or missing recordings - anyone know about this box?

...lastly, anyone had refurb/Grade A stock from SVP - would they be in good condition (as some places list their stuff as refurb/grade A...and they're in horrific condition...)

Thanks for your replies in advance...

Yes, you can rewind live TV provided that you're not already recording another channel.

Only one programme can be recorded to the drive at one time I'm afraid.

Having got used to it on my sagem PVR I'd be lost if I couldn't record two channels at once; but this is a good price and half a PVR is better than none.:)

The Wharfdale DVDrecorder/HDD/Freeview box at Bigpockets for £59.99 delivered might be better value - although it's only 80Gb and won't let you watch one channel while recording another...

arent they able to record 2 if you update the firmware on them?

Grade A is usually either a customer return ( ordered wrongly ) or a faulty machine that has been sent back to the manufacturer to have a faulty part replaced. They can no longer be sold as new, so are Grade A but come with a full maufacturers warranty.
Grade B are the same, but have either cosmetic damage or damaged packaging.

I sold office machines for 15 years and that is how we sold graded products.
Hope this helps.

Oggy.

Hey oggy
after being a member of HUKD for nearly 2 years you put up your first post and I must admit it was great! I always wondered how they go about grading and you explained it perfectly!

Have some rep:thumbsup:

Yeah...i think i read that somewhere too (that you can record 2 channels at the same time with different/newer/hacked firmware)...

...anyone who has got one, or anyone in the know, can comment and elaborate further on this?
[and maybe provide a few links on where we can find such info...]

Thanks for your kind replies in advance...

The firmware can be flashed to record 2 channels at the same time, but at the expense of a couple of days epg storage.

Try the pvr forum

Possible hack

I have the 80GB version and the answer is NO it cannot rewind live TV. It does not constantly record to the hard drive like some boxes. It only starts recording when you push the pause button to pause live TV.

(Actually I prefer it this way as it makes the whole thing a lot quieter when you're just viewing.)

As standard it can only record one channel but as posters above have said, a firmware update can be done to allow two channel simultaneous recording at the expense of some EPG memory making that a bit slow, but I find that if you delete all those ****** channels you never watch, rather than just hiding them or using favourites, the EPG works just fine.

Is it possible to record from an external source into this , say like connecting a dbox2 or eurovox box to the input on this machine and using this machine to record?

I've had one of these for over a year and it's great. :)
Mine was a grade A return - still inside the instructions booklet was the previous owners letter to ebuyer complaining at how **** this PVR was and how it kept crashing and losing recordings, etc.& how it was amazing this product could be sold!!
The vast majority of the previous problems with these particular boxes were caused by the weedy external power supply transformer that just couldn't cope - they're now supplied with higher spec ones.

So in summary, to get further discounts on this...

(1) 3% on Quidco - http://www.quidco.com/svp-communications/

(2) HukD special discount deal (do first, not sure of amount) - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/21065/exclusive-hotukdeals-partner-offer-/

(3) Choose either 99p delivery or £2 discount - voucher, see - http://www.hotukdeals.com/all/vouchers/new?expired=false&mf=44

(hope this is correct, please add or amend if needed)

so overall, hot hot hot and rep given :w00t:

Edit: with 3% quidco( assuming it tracks), HUKD member deal and 99p mainland postage voucher, this will work out at £55.30 delivered for me :)

do you mean use quidco

i have used quidco about 6 or 7 times and it only tracked once 54p
the most expensive deal i did with them was car insurance ltsb
never been paid anything from quidco and i have always cleared cookies etc. and use firefox
so using quidco has to be a no-no for me:oops:

He meant the discount voucher for delivery ie may3day99p or may3day99peu that you enter in the box provided when you are checking out after putting it in your basket.

I've had just over £100 paid from quidco in last 6 months, so it can pay off, but as you say, it's not guaranteed to track every time and it hasn't every time for me, so best to not rely on it and treat it as a bonus if it happens. It is especially good for things like mobile phone deals where even figures like £100 were being offered recently. If something doesn't track you can always supply the info to quidco and they will follow it up on your behalf and try to get your discount.

Some people even argue that Grade A stock is actually better than new stock as after the initial fault has been fixed the item then receives further testing after that so less likely to go wrong in the future compared to a brand new item which has had less testing.

Once the item's in your cart, click "View Cart" on the right, submit the code in the grey box and you should see something like this.

Red error text should give you a clue if you don't have the right region or shipping option.
