Seems reasonable for what it is to me too - heat added

I've added 'Dominican Republic' to the title as I guess most people wont have a clue where the Gran Bahia Principe Ambar is. I've also added that it's All Inclusive as that's fairly important in terms of cost.

I've also edited your link so it goes to the hotel as the link you posted is your own personal link that just produces:-

This isnt a great deal at all. Its a normal deal....£4 cheaper with Thomas Cook (Gatwick)
Not a great hotel neither. For £800 I would rather go else where.

subsidising? No, you are paying for what you get. Having been a victim of one of the regular out-breaks of illness on the DR (I'm talking where hundreds of guest all suddenly get ill and many end up on IV drips in a hospital where the standard of English is poor - not the too much booze / mild tummy upsets) I personally would never return to the DR. Whilst the overall majority travel for years to the DR without suffering any major illness, when it does happen (which is more frequent in the DR than most places) it can be devastating. It's been 5 years since I visited the DR and it's only this year I really feel that I've recovered both physically and mentally from my experience.

Now, if you feel that like yozzman1234 I am a mug then that's entirely your opinion. As I said, you get what you pay for. The one time I was a bargain hunter it ended up costing a whole lot more.

Anyway, anyone going on this deal will no doubt have a great time. If the worst happens then you'll live...just.

Ok you live in your sterile little bubble.
In my opinion what's the point of going if your just stuck in your hotel and never get out.

what are you on about? Who exactly suggested living in a sterile little bubble?? I certainly didn't!

I'm not talking about a dodgy tummy. I'm talking about extremely serious conditions that can hospitalise people as a direct result of poor hygiene in hotels. I spent a long time researching the DR and the high levels of illness encountered there after my experience. The tour operators really don't care because the amount of money that they make from sending people to these locations outweighs the compensation claims.

In my opinion, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You are also extremely disrespectful.

Who said it's only safe to go there 5*??? Once again, certainly not me!! For your information I did go 5*.

The DR has an extremely poor record when it comes to hygiene related illnesses. I've never stayed in a hotel where at the entrance to toilets and eating areas there were members of staff providing antibacterial hand gel. I'm not being disrespectful at all...I'm presenting facts here and experience!

Anyway, if you go there then I'm sure you'll be fine.

You know where you can stick your advice.
Been to many a country with poor hygiene standards and live to tell the tale.

Well done you! So have many people. My point remains, spending more does not make one a mug. The one time I thought I was a clever bargain hunter I ended up being the mug...for booking at a hotel that had a record of outbreaks of serious illnesses..just like the Bahia Principe hotels...
