are you sure, would love it if they did, my usual place are so difficult abt price matching and knowing my luck they'll probably say we don't match games

Bought half an hour ago from my local store in Chingford. Very good deal

"We won't be beaten on price!

In the unlikely event that you find a cheaper price, for the same product and offer, We’ll not only match the price but also beat it by 10% of the difference. Our price promise even applies up to 7 days after purchase.

Single unit purchases only. The competitor must be a retail store within 30 miles and have stock ready for delivery. Available instore or via telesales on 08445 61 62 63"

they def price match games, but u have to go instore and morrisons have to have it in stock and be with in 30 miles.

Gran Turismo 5 took some six years of development time and cost an alleged $80 million to develop. But, Sony is going a long towards making that money back. They issued a press statement today announcing that they’ve sold an incredible 5.5 million copies of their ‘real driving simulator’, Gran Turismo 5.

"Gran Turismo 5 Sales Numbers Hit 5.5 Million, Says Sony [Sony Announces Epic Sales Numbers For Their Real Driving Simulator, Pushes Gran Turismo Series As A Whole Over 60 Million]"

Lowest price of £30 say time 5.5 Million = £165 Million = $258 Million

Gran Turismo 5 took six years of development time and cost an alleged $80 million to develop

Profit to date = $178 Million or £105 Million

Obvioulsy hype pays!

Because they sold several million copies of GT5 prologue, which I'm sure helped with the dev costs of this game - the GT games always sell amazingly well, I'm pretty sure they'll make a few quid!

It is a great game, real depth, variety and of course the beautiful visuals

note quite, GT make less profit compared to any other game due to the use of actual cars, which means the pay a certain amount to the car manufactures for using their cars etc. And theres the advertising costs also

No game expert what so ever, just realised I cannot buy this for the xbox, my 11 year old said " no dad, its on PS3 only " well I never, I thought all games were made for all platforms... ATARI rules :)

Hot price, I bought it for this price a few months back and it is a cracking game, much better with a wheel and pedals (IF u have the room an money to get a decent set) than using the pad though, but still a cracking game.

As to how Sony can make any money from this game, er nearly 6 million sales to date, add to that the peeps who have bought a PS3 to play it, who will then go on and buy other games/blu rays/peripherals etc......I'd say Sony are making a tidy wee profit on this game (_;)

Licensing of official cars would surely be included in the $80m development costs?! I'd doubt any of them managed to negotiate commission on ongoing sales ;)

I think Sony's got VERY lucky with this. If the key crack it as effective as its being reported I'd say that they are going to lose millions to the pirates in the VERY near future!

you are forgetting the fact of wholesale prices and mark up. Sony clearly won't make £30 on each copy, once you take away supermarket mark up, discounts to wholesalers for buying 5.5million units and distribution cost they probably only make $10 a copy if that.
#25
oh, and take off £6 VAT.

Thanks in advance :))

GT5 hasn't sold 5.5 million copies, 5.5 million copies have been shipped. Big difference.

Sale or return haha, made me laugh. Del Boy Sony. Yeah Sony have shifted 5.5 million, I was just clarifying that 5.5 million haven't been sold to end users making his figures pointless (not that they weren't even if they had sold that many).

Theoretical millions yes, in a hypothetical world where a human being wakes up every morning and thinks "Should I buy this game or should I pirate it?". The reality is that a consumer thinks "What game should I buy today?" and a pirate thinks "What game should I rip off today?", there's minimal crossover between the two.

the 5.5 million figure was from december week 1 so it may well have sold 5.5 by now, although dodgy vgchartz says 4.91... so who knows.

Figure isn't pointless as in Sony shifting that many, they have sold that many. Whether end users have bought that many or not is pointless to Sony as it makes no odds to them as long as they can sell them to the retailers.

Its a damn good game but the online is abysmal and frustrating to say the least. They need to learn from the guys who made NFS Hot Pursuit, their online system is the best!

GT5 Prologue sold over 5 million copies , which near enough covered the entire cost of GT5 , so they are well into the black now.

But **** GT5, anyone seen TDU2 cheap on preorder? ;)
