That's a good price! I may wait though - people were upset when supermarkets were able to sell MW2 cheaper than the pre orders.

heat added, thanks for posting

european release date is yet to be confirmed, japan/usa are on a march date,

i did see argos saying 12th march for uk, and also summer 10

speculation, until official dates are confirmed

i can not wait for this game :D

my need for speed shift will been gathering dust soon lol
#4
mmm think ill pass for now, waiting to see if there'll be a MW2 style supermarket price war :-D
#5
There wont be a price war as its a ps3 exclusive price wars tend to happen when the games a released on ps3 and xbox360

I wouldnt agree. Rockband 2 (as well as other titles) on both of the separate release times for PS3 and Xbox was offered the same way, it was to start with loads of good deals on preorder but came out and Tesco and Asda both were loads cheaper. Don't think it makes a difference if it is for once console or both or more when a game is released I think it is more to do with the popularity of the game and getting footfall to the stores irrespective of what console the bargain is for.

Also hot for the game currently but I will hold out and see closer to release as I can't wait. Forza 3 can only keep me for so long.

Not necessarily true, price wars aren't about platforms they are about beating the competition and also the main high street/internet gaming businesses. It's all about supermarkets driving footfall in hope of additional purchases and also giving the finger to every other retail business type as possible to prove they are unbeatable and have the buying power to outplay almost anyone.

They still make a profit on the games when they sell at the low price and they always do it on the big game releases and my bet would be that for GT5 they will do it, maybe not all but one of them will...maybe Morrisons.

Defo a price war game, i'd bet my hat on it.
#10
Which ps3 exclusives so far have been involved in a price war?
suspended#11
Supermarkets price war on freaking beans, of course it's the same scenario for Video Games.
#12
For a price war, we're talking £25, certainly sub £30. So which ps3 exclusives have been released below £30?

I'm sure LBP was and even if it wasn't supermarkets have in the past only reduced price of multi platform releases on just one console. Morrisons only reduced Fifa 10 on PS3 to the £25 mark.

like post #8 says, its more to do with the popularity of the games rather than exclusivity. if the supermarkets know its going to be a big release and, believe me, there will be demand for this game, then they will want there slice of the cake - and the best way to ensure that is to undercut everyone else, thus a 'price war' begins. you may have noticed a pattern with platform related price wars, but its purely co-incidental.

its partially popularity but the reason fifa and mw2 were involved in price wars was due to their popularity as well as the fact they were multiplatform which appealed to the mass market and gave the supermarkets the best chance of encouraging maximum customers in order to get them spending money on other areas.

I'm getting the Limited Edition Version... Dont care what price it is. Good price for the Standard Ver. Any release dates it has on the site are false till they have been confirmed by Sony or PD.
#18
This is a great deal though , going to get it Heat added.

alot of pressure on this game.

this game should have been out years ago.

prologue was a waste of time.

This is a deal thread & comments should relate the deal - availability, price comparison, delivery, deal hotness, game info etc. General Console comparisons / discussions should take place in the MISC forum - please don't repost, lots of off topic comments already removed, thanks.
#22
Jaspal this is a discussion about a GT5 pre-order, not about you're opinions on PS3 and Xbox 360.

I think this is a good deal, although Im going to wait to buy it after release as I payed £36 for MW2 thinking it was a good price
#23
Stop arguing Jaspal! It's about personal preference - not specs!

You want to talk about Graphics? - how does the Wii hold up? it outsold both PS3 AND xbox, yet the Graphics aren't even comparable to ps3 or xbox. Then there's also GPU's, handhelds, hell even things like the iphone/ipod touch and so on and so forth - I hope you can see how stupid this discussion is.

There's no need to whip out some crappy comparison when you clearly have no objective to compare the two machines. Face it - the playstation is iconic - and it will always be an icon no matter what you or others say!!

@topic: Thanks OP - I think I'm going to hold out... good price though - Heat added!! Can't wait for GT5!
#24
good deal, but again will wait for the price war.

thank god that guy's comments got removed

for everyone's sake DO NOT START A CONSOLE WAR IN THIS THREAD

This may be the one that justifies me getting a PS3, just hope that they have managed to squeeze in damage as thats always spoilt it for me (too easy to shunt other cars off to slow quickly for sharp corners).

Damage will be in.

been on the BETA for a couple of months now - not impressed at all. Hopefully the final thing will improve as its like driving a brick round a track at the minute.

Good price so far though, still peeved at amazon for cancelling the £17.99 pre-order

There is no GT5 Beta mate. Theres the GT5 Prologue Game. and the GT Academy Demo. I would know if there was a GT5 Beta myself. I'm constantly on GTPlanet about GT News where they find out first about everything. You must mean something else?

Amazon were never going to hold their word on that £17.99 Pre Order lol.
#29
The time trial demo is what's currently on offer on the PSN, maybe that's what he means. That's been up since around Christmas. If that's representative of the play on offer I'm out.
There may well be a price-drop in the future, but this is the best you can do now.
#30
so wasn't the idea suppossed to be that if you bought the GT:Prologue that you'd then be able to upgrade that to the full game minus the price you paid for the prologue?
if so how does that work for people who bought actual copies of the game? and as part of the games already out on prologue shouldnt this be cheaper than a full price game anyway so this isn't a good deal?
I'm confused with what Sony did with this release - just seems they ripped off impatient fans a bit
#31
this will be the game that makes every other console owner want a ps3,no other driving games gets near.people will buy the ps3 just for this game.I think Sainsbury £24 and Tesco £25 if you buy any other game.Just like they did with cod mw2

@ don_in_ed

Prologue had 70 cars and 6 tracks, and was released because they knew GT5 would take a long time to develop. Its not ripping anyone off, as it was your choice to buy it or not.
The final game will have around 1000 cars and 60+ tracks, as well as dynamic weather, day/night cycle for every track, damage on all cars, plus Nascar, WRC, F1, Endurance, Touring and Indy races to name a few. I'd say its going to be well worth any price you pay for it.

As for upgrading Prologue to the full game, I can't see that happening as it will probably take up most of a 50GB disc considering the amount of content.
#33
Sainsbury was £24 but Tesco wanted you to buy another game with it for the cheap price
#34
Good deal. heat added

i actually did market research on this game a few months back. What they showed and told us was extremely interesting to the point where i'd consider buying this (im not a racing game fan). 950 cars, 62 tracks and the choice to play standard circuit racing as well as rally and nascar. There were some other very interesting features that were talked about such as the ability to race around the top gear test track and compete against the Stig's times, and a ps3 camera sensitive cock-pit view (where you move your head to view what you want to see on screen!). I think the online play was something they were paying more attention to. Hope this has been useful/a tease... Oh, and the damage bit...

Amusingly, the group i was in was populated mainly by FPS players, all currently playing CODMW2 to death. When the researcher asked us what we thought about driving games, we collectively agreed that some racing games are ok but we cant stand driving simulators like Gran Tourismo! lol

"We regret that we are currently unable to accept payments via Maestro card.
Please use an alternative method of payment."

Bah, useless company.
#38
The demo for this is so dull, it doesn't even look that good. Think I'll wait for the reviews.

sons birthday present now sorted. cheers:thumbsup:

Cheers OP

Have to disagree with the supermarket price war comments - Uncharted 2 was a massive selling PS3 exclusive and that wasn't in a supermarket sub 30 price war on launch. Should have been though....

MW2 could be bought and pushed out in such massive quantities accross multiple formats, that must increase the buying power over 'exclusives'.

Love to know what would qualify this or any other game for the 'wars'.

The £5 quid coupon may explain various price hikes on the Gameplay site....
