You might want to change the title to GTA 4 on PC.

Cheers, also removed the horrible typo.

best to use keyboard and mouse when on foot, and controller for driving.

i bought this when it came out - it requires a high spec pc and is very system intensive.
it was bugged to hell when it came out and even the latest patch doesn't really do much. a lazy port.

and i still haven't finished the damn thing either - not for want of trying, but truth be told i've got bored of it.

by the time i gave up on it, i couldn't remember what the story was about !
something about a whinging illegal immigrant (without sounding too BNP)

if you've got the system and the patience - then this is worth it for the price.

Couldn't agree more. Just so everyknows no matter what the official system requirements, you will definately need a Quad core PC.
#5
Agree too, but if you do have the PC for this - great game and a steal at this price.
#6
Bought it, there goes a few months of my life.

A good game that could have been great if MS had kept their paws out of the code.

It requires a very well spec'd PC to play this and you must have the latest drivers for your graphics card to stand a chance as well. That said - you could still end up of having to turn various rendering on or off to get it to display propery, assuming the game lets you and doesnt kick in a copy protection check or decide that you must play and log-in online to xbox - games for windows live ......
#8
As already stated numerous times above me, you need a very good PC to run this well. Just thought I'd add that the latest patch has added the achievements from 'The Lost and Damned' DLC from the Xbox360, and although there has been no official word that this expansion will come to the PC yet, it has been seen by many as confirmation that it will arrive on the PC at some point.

I thought that an issue with GTA IV was that it couldn't use more than one core - correct me if I'm wrong.
#10
Give it another 2 hours on top of the amount of time you'd expect the installation to take, if you've got a crap Internet connection like mine and haven't already got the Games For Windows nonsense installed...

This is one game that definately takes advantage of Quad core cpu's.

I'm a die hard PC gamer, never owned a console except a gameboy in the 80s and a DS Lite now.

I must admit this is the first game which is tempting me to get a console. I dont have a high enough spec PC to play this and its a lot cheaper to get a console to play this, than rig a whole new PC. I've got fallout 3 at the moment and I am feeling the same about that game too.

I can see myself in the future having a cheaper PC, like a EEE desktop and then just having a console. I prefer the controls on a PC but cost wise its not making sense if the top titles are always so PC intensive (expensive PC required).

Quad Core is recommended for this Game, but not really required.
Runs fine on my system - E8400 4GHz, 8GB Ram, 4870 1GB, 1920x1080, approx 30-40fps

Ah ok, I obviously got the complete wrong end of the stick when I heard something about it then.

Cost wise you're far better getting a console - especially as you're then guaranteed to be able to play newest games for a number of years. Though it's sadly never as cheap as it first seems due to the extra components that you have to buy occasionally. Also PC games are usually about a tenner cheaper (when new at least) so depending on how many you buy you could always think of those being an investment for the next PC upgrade. Though it is a bit rediculous how to buy a decent PC graphics card can cost nearly as much as a new xbox.

Had it on XBOX360 - got bored of it.

I don't know how the previous GTA kept me playing, but it most certainly didn't.

Having said that, I'm still pretty tempted to buy as I think it would be funner on the PC than on the Xbox.

I've got a Core 2 Duo overclocked to 4GHz, 8GB RAM and an ATI 4870 1GB - do you think my PC will play it OK? All this talk of Quad Core - surely it won't make that bigger difference over a Core 2 Duo.

Same here, Vice city was my favourite this one annoyed me. I think the problem was the whole game seemed to lack the character of the others. The story lines in this were fairly dull (and didn't always follow), the characters were dull and there seemed to be little variation across the entire city.

Surely you'd be able to play it on your system , at £9.99 it must be worth a stab.
#18
Yeah, I'd say while it's a bargain price for the game, and the game is a technical marvel...it's an awful port to PC, tho the deal itself is sound.

I've got it on PC, but I sense when I eventually get a 360, I'll buy it again, as I've enjoyed what I could play, but flatly can't do high speed driving on my PC!
#19
Bought this ages ago in Morrisons for the same price and I was actually impressed, it was a lot better than reviews made out.

Runs at 1440x900 on high detail with no slowdown on my machine (quad core Q6600 and 8800GT).

The only problem with playing on the PC is it's nigh on impossible to fly a chopper, luckily that mission comes near the end of the game so you should get hours out of it before you hit that brick wall.

The driving takes a little getting used to but is very rewarding once you've mastered it. After about an hours gameplay you should be flying around full pelt.

I have the special edition for the Xbox 360 and really regret buying it now. The nicest thing in it was the key ring and that broke in a matter of days. I'm going to try and flog in on fleabay and probably pick up the PC version, my rig should happily run it.

I preferred to use controller for this one, but did eventually get bored with it. Was worth the £10 I paid back then (morrisons deal) and its still got to be worth it now. :)

Running this on a dual core system with 4GB ram and radeon hd 4870 which isn't really high spec at all runs super smooth puts xbox version to shame so don't be put off if you've got a modest system good price for a good game
