Nice price, I'm gonna be ordering one soon I think.

Now all I need is a PS3, at least Ive got 10 weeks to save up!

LINK to a high res image.

EDIT: Just read the new release date will be 29/04/07 that gives me a few extra weeks!

News in the pipe line that might help some peeps. PS3 is going down in price by £50 to co incide with the release of the new GTA game. So people that havnt already got a PS3 will buy one to go with GTA and get more sales than XBOX 360 thats what sony are hoping for. As well as this I received a email yesterday that there has now been extra delay on the release of GTA
#3
Sony already annonced a new price. £350 with two first party games.

You should definately get it on 360 though as there are two expansion packs for it and none for PS3 (yet)
#4
I've heard the rumours about the price drop too. Microsoft are supposidly planning the same also.

TBH I'll probably get one at the time of release whatever the price. GTA3 was the reason I bought a PS2, all those years ago!

I have a 360 and a PS3 and I'll be buying it one the PS3. I personally don't care about episodic content, and imo, gta is an original PS game, so I prefer the controller for it....
#7
why cold?
#8
Good price, but i have to get it from woolies is £59.99 less my 20%.....£48 bargain!
#9
sounds good
i need a safety deposit box to keep all my bargains safe that i have bought on HUKD!
#10
i presume that there will be no difference in graphics between the 2 consoles? the virgin 10% credit card code still works, so £52.20 delivered.

Think you're missing out that the original came out on PC at the same time if not earlier, and was more suited to that along with the expansion packs
#12
PS3 gfx might be a touch better, but I hope not. The XBOX controller is way better for GTA. Two analogue triggers for accelerate and brake. Pwned.
#13
I'm guessing that the reason the PS3's are going down in price is due to Sony scrapping the older versions and bringing out 2 new flavours with a 120G or 160G hard drive and the long awaited Dualshock 3 controller, it might be worth waiting.

Dont think the expansion packs will be on the PS3 as M$ paid $50 million for it.
#15
rockstar have said there wont be any differnece between the two version. anyone got a link to any of the info regarding 360 expansion packs?
#16
BTW, PS3 is way harder to code for. Look at the majority of games running 60fps on 360 and 20-30fps on the PS3. I'll be getting it on the 360 since that's the better console (acheivements and live are way better than the PS3 offerings IMO). Not getting this "pack" just going to get the stand-alone game. Bye!

The link above is from june last year, seems things have changed :)

Washington (dbTechno) - It was not too long ago that Microsoft announced that they had put out $50 million to Rockstar in order to secure exclusive downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Now it seems that the $50 million they put out really won’t secure them that much exclusively.
Reports are coming out that the majority of the downloadable content for the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV will be available on both the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.
This is because the agreement Microsoft struck with Rockstar is apparently only for the two extra downloadable game chapters. Beyond that though the rest of the downloadable content will come to the PS3 as well.

Yeah rockstar clearly hate working on the PS3,

SCEA's director of third-party relations, Michael Shorrock, wrote on the official US PlayStation blog, "As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto we've agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios."
Nothing whatsoever was revealed about the new franchise except the clarification that it would not be LA Noire.
According to Shorrock, "Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3."

This is a great price but it has been around for quite a while.:)

I voted hot and I pre-ordered a copy on the Playstation 3 for £52.00 because of the Virgin Credit Card discount.

This is definitely the cheapest you will get this for!

Zavvi have messed up my orders before but I will try again because I really wouldn't mind the Special Edition at this price.

Do you have anything to back this up, or is there yet another case of internet hearsay...
#22
This is a good price, but I've been stung by Zavvi before with mass effect. I'd happily pay the extra £1 to get it from Amazon or something.
#23
Not a bad deal, have some heat. Although i already ordered from game with the 'jansavings' code (£3 off), should get 11% quidco and around £3.50 in reward points.

Price will probably drop before release anyway so no loss.

What happened with that order? I have had orders canceled by them for no reason. This is why I am unsure whether to keep my pre-order with them. I have the game still pre-ordered with woolworths.co.uk as well.

The second best price to get this is either Tesco or Woolworths for £60.00 and delivery is free. They send pre-orders nearly a week in advance to make sure pre-releases arrive on the release date apparently.

Amazon.co.uk offer it for £60.00 as well but their free postage option means pre-orders could arrives days after the release date.
#25
£58, when the regular game will be easy to find for at least £35. Every game site will be competing for sales.

So is a big black bag, mental box, artwork and cd filled with music you'll be almost tired of hearing worth £23.

No.

I'll be getting it for the PS3.

The console hasn't come close to peaking unlike the 360, BluRay will become essential if you have HD TV and you will get more product life out of it for all its features than what the 360's extended warranty fails to cover.

Basically they gave me the runaround, tried to cancel it and finally gave in and sent me it. Nearly 2 weeks after it was released.

I've got no doubt the 360 version will be the better version, so i'll be going for that one ta very much.

Thanks I probably will cancel my pre-order with Zavvi then and stick with the woolworths online pre-order. I don't trust Zavvi and I want to get the game on the release date and not days after.

Cheers:thumbsup:

You get all the other **** with it tho

I paid £34.99 for the normal version on PS3 at Game using a £5 code, plus preorder points (£2) and Quidco (£3.33) so works out just under £30. Im personally not that bothered about the extra nonsense you get with the special edition, especially at double the price Im paying! Why on earth would people want a silly bag, money box, soundtrack and book for £28 extra??!

Maybe not to casual fans but for those who really love the series many will want one. Including myself I realize to many the Special Edition may look like "junk" but the big fans will appreciate the items. A Grand Theft Auto game has never had a Special Edition like this before either.:)
#33
I used to buy the special editions but just ended up throwing the junk away cause it is just tat / that.

have both the PS3 and 360, but I think the xbox360 version will be better for this by the looks of things with the control and expansion packs.
#34
Don't forget people paid £70+ (& a lot more on ebay) for the Halo 3 Legendary packs, but I've seen them floating around for £60 now days.

And don't forget the Halo packs were limited edition

Ditto :x

I'll happily pay the extra £1.98 and stick with my Shopto order, rather than give my money to Zavvi.

Total crooks.

Not many games have had such a big special edition. Only ones that have comes close are the halo 3 one and maybe bioshock (that I know of).

I for one am v/ happy that GTA has a special edition as I am a collector of special editions and a big fan of the GTA serise.

Dont think the expansion packs will be on the PS3 as M$ paid $50 million for it.

MS did not pay $50million for the expansion.
The $50 million that MS gave to Rockstar/Take Two was an advance payment on revenue they expect to receive from the first two expansion packs. Think of it as an interest free loan. When the DLC is released, the first $50 million is Microsoft's, any extra will be split between the two companies. If the DLC doesn't raise $50 million, then Rockstar/Take Two will need to reimburse MS the extra.
There really is no reason to get the PS3 version, unless you don't have a 360.
Considering there has been NO screenshots/videos of the PS3 version running, shows lack of confidence (so far) in sony and rockstar. The PS3 version is one of the reason the game was delayed in the first place as it was and is running behind in production - and playing catch-up never is a good thing.
I suspect the 360 version will also be more reliable and stable fps wise, for the reasons stated above. Then ofcourse the 360 has the amazing Live, and MS achievements system ;-)

Hot!

Source?
Sorry, but I don't think ANY DLC is going to have a hope in hell of making $50million, there's only about 20million 360's out there. Assuming the game sells 10million copies, that's going to require every single owner to pay $5 each for the expansions, which I doubt will happen.

Pity the same can't be said about the console. :whistling:

I really shouldn't be saying that as I own a 360 (onto my forth) and will be getting this game. The Live/achievements is what swings it for me. I also didn't realise the PS3 still had shoulder buttons not triggers, thats just wrong. :?

Will this game come as an Indian languge version?
