Special Readers Digest edition of the first (and edgiest?) two series of Grange Hill on five DVDs. Still looks good and engages my kids (and gives 'em a bit of understanding of my school days at the same time). Not many childrens series have adults who are not 'flawed' but just plain nasty...

Now, can your streetwise ego cope with your first Reader's Digest delivery?!?!?!

Will be great to see the Gripper Stebson and Danny Kendle characters again--very interesting to see the way they dealt with racism then --you would never get a series showing real life issues like this anymore --and who can forget Big Trev and his doughballs .

Ziggy , Gonch , and some others

I know what you mean, but those were much later series that I don't think are on DVD yet? These are the oldest series with Pogo Paterson and Tucker Jenkins (Mark Fowler in Eastenders) before my time.

Would love to see Row-land, Mr Bronson and 'special' Danny Kendal again!

And Simate, who didn't.

Gripper Stebson era was 1981 to 1985 era.... I think he ended up being a butchers boy or something from what I remember... I think that equates to series 4 onwards..

series 2 I think included the pupil protest

I think the first two series included the episode of one of the characters falling off the top of a car park, and also going on the nick round clothing shops... certainly a memorable program.

"You Boy! Get down from there..."

Such memories for so many people and all that can be bought are series one and two. :(

But yet all manner of boxed sets for crap serials are available.

Come on Beeb get some Grange Hill boxed sets out. You've got highly paid executives to keep in duck houses you know...

p.s. Why is it whenever I see Readers Digest I think of the dentist...
