Looks a good deal to me, most of these are £150 + however, there seem to be so many variations of the GT hard to keep up.

Good first post IMHO

theres a cheaper one at the bottom of the page, though the same spec and model number!!! also not in stock which means it may be a misprice. Amazon have done this before with graphic cards and they don't honour the price.

It does seem a bit cheap but how do you know it is the 256MB version?

No your are not missing anything!

512Mb Memory
&
256 Bit Memory Addressing - this is the Physical Memory addressing interface and all 8800's are 256 Bit.

Believe me - this is a BARGAIN!

I can 't believe how luke warm the responses are especially when this is is being offered by SCAN for £50 more!

Hector,

Thanks for the heads up on this, just got one to put in a dell that MikeT has recommended, this card is a bargain considering its power. Much appreciated.

Cheers,

In case anyone doesnt want to wait 3-5 weeks, Scan now have it for £138.51 which is still a lot cheaper than most 8800GTs and it has the better cooler :)

Admittedly the Amazon price is better, lets hope they honour it.
#12
misprice i think.. amazon don't normally honour these deals so probably not worth the try.

Yep thats why Ive gone for the Scan one, order is being processed already and should be here by Monday.
#14
The one from Scan looks like the ordinary 8800gt not the Overclocked one that sells as a "Sonic".

The ordinary 8800gt sells for £116.49 at Amazon.

Yep, but from past experience with Amazon misprices I doubt people will get them at that price, usually Amazon send out an email cancelling the order when they realise. You might get lucky but considering these arent actually instock its unlikely.
#16
The price on this has hopped up to a much more normal £151.32, the non overclocked version still has the same price, though.
#17
Has anyone actually had one dispatched?

My Order remains on Amazon for £128.78 with a despach date of 17th Jan.

Russ - did you get your card from Scan? Product any good??
#19
No didnt get it from Scan in the end as its out of stock there too! But I notice Amazon have removed the Palit from their site - lets hope they honour those who already ordered. I ended up going for a Gigabyte with a Zalman cooler which looks cool :)

Log into your amazon account to check they still have your order on their system as the card seems to have vanished from the site - they have been known to cancel orders and not say anything before.
#21
Huh, so they have. Actually, they've removed their entire 'new' range of Palit cards (here) all of which were priced at under-the-odds rates with delivery estimates of 3-5 weeks. It was almost as if they all had cost prices, not retail prices.

My order is still showing in my account (dispatch 28 Jan 2008 - 15 Feb 2008) although it's the non-overclocked version. Not exactly hopefull I'll ever see it, but I'm not too fussed either way - my current card is getting long in the tooth, yes - but it's still workable :)
#22
Aaand I got my cancellation email this afternoon. Hey ho :)
#23
Ahh well I suppose it was inevitable. Thanks for letting us know Hoodi. Has anyone else had the cancellation email?
#24
yep me too, nothing ventured etc...
#25
Got cancelled as well... oh well:?
#26
I had my order cancelled too. Told to have a look the day after at the repriced version

For those of you that missed this, you can get a Gigabyte GeForce 8800GT 512MB GDDR3 PCIE Dual DVI 700/1.9 for £146.55 delivered at the BT Shop.

http://www.shop.bt.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4XKB&CategorySelectedId=11137&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11137,48070000

This is still an excellent deal! 5% quidco would knock an extra ~ £7.32 off too, bringing it to ~ £139.23.

Man, what is the point of trying to make out that that guy's bargain buy, which he is pleased with, is a piece of junk? It's as though you can't accept him being happy with his purchase. Get over it. If his overheats (which is NO certainty, just because yours did) then he will have to deal with it of course, but it's not like he can turn back time, so your spiteful comment is pointless. Next.

P.S. If you don't expect to get good things for peanuts then why are you lurking on a bargain site, on which many links are posted containing info. on great products that are being sold for peanuts, somewhere? You should start up www.notatallhotdealsuk.com where you can provide info. on where customers can purchase good products at their RRPs.
