The Government is launching some new funding today for Energy Efficiency/Home Improvement, theres £30million available, and it is expected to be gone quite quickly!

Opens at 9am today! 10/12/14

You may be able to claim back money from the government if you make energy-saving home improvements.

The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) will accept new applications from 9am on Wednesday 10 December 2014.

You can get back up to 67% of the cost of installing solid wall insulation, up to £4,000.

You can also get up to £1,000 towards the cost of installing any 2 of the following:
a condensing gas boiler on mains gas
double or triple glazing as a replacement for single glazing
secondary glazing
energy efficient replacement external doors
cavity wall insulation
floor insulation
flat-roof insulation
insulation for a room in the roof
a replacement warm air unit
fan-assisted storage heaters
a waste water heat recovery system

You can get up to £500 more if you apply within 12 months of buying a home.

You can also claim back up to £100 towards the cost of your Green Deal assessment if you install energy-saving improvements through the GDHIF.

Eligibility

To qualify all of the following must apply:
you’re improving a domestic property in England or Wales that you own or live in
you have either a Green Deal advice report or an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) that’s less than 2 years old
the improvements you’re applying for are covered by the scheme and recommended in your EPC or Green Deal advice report
you use a Green Deal provider or installer registered with the GDHIF

If its good for anyone, good luck!

The "experts" believe this will be fully subscribed to by the end of the day. Too late unless you qualify now.

Indeed, you must already have an EPC or a Green Deal Assessment to apply, so I guess if you've moved house recently, you'll be ok!

I got offered the 75% for external wall insulation last time round but with the requirement for planning permission and Leeds councils requirements to keep the house "features" (not listed just has bits that protrude around the windows) it just ended up being too expensive and difficult. Hope others don't get let down by this..

But still start the process and you'll then be at the front of the queue for the next funding release, in early Spring.

Is this only available to stay at home lazy work shy Jeremy Kyle watching track suit wearing people? Is it a deal tax payers don't get?

For everyone :)

Yeah but remeber that if live in an area that is "off Gas" and install a super efficient double condensing oil fired boiler you wil get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Typical "Them and Us" culture, penalising us rural folk

We don't have an EPC or green deal report so I'm guessing it's too late, and there's no way to apply?
#9
You would have to hope this money doesn't go as quickly as people think, and get an assessment done today if theres availability

Wouldn't be able to get one today as at work unfortunately. Is there definitely going to be another one in spring? As I could get one in time for that. Back door desperately needs replacing as its letting such a draft in, and still have single glazing on back of the house but just have no money to get it done at the moment.

That's not what the leaflet says, http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/admin/documents/Green%20Deal%20Energy%20Saving%20Home%20Improvements%20Checklist.pdf , seems to mention condensing oil boiler, and of course there's biomass alternatives, which are probably far greener anyway.

Had outside wall insulation done a few months ago...we live in a park home,,freezing cold in a winter and boiling in the summer...this is an amaziing offer,so much warmer already...i say apply a.s a.p

Careful how many energy grants you get....You can get a maximum of three grants & then you get no more...That means if you get a grant for £30 for some tape for the door to stop draughts that counts as one grant & that one grant may prevent you getting new windows.

Yes you can get support to fit Oil fired boiler but that is for a LOAN taken against the house at a cost far higher than the actual installion costs, rather than cashback to install it yourself.

I looked at biomass and underground thermal but the set-up costs were about 4 times the amount of an oil boiler and my garden wasnt big enough for the thermal set-up.

While this seems like a great deal to me at first, I find myself thinking...

If you shop around you can get a brand new A+ rated combi boiler with 7 year P&L gurentee fully installed for £1050inc vat.

On this scheme the installer you use has to be a part of the Green Deal scheme in order to qualify, thus the chances are they're gonna be quoting you upwards of £3,000 for a boiler fully installed. Likewise with other things such as insulation, solar panels etc.

So, a savy person isnt really going to save anything and could in fact lose money being on this scheme. I also don;t like the fact you have to spend money up front for an assessment.

We have just had external wall insulation done, we got £6000 towards it which is most of the cost, this must be the hottest deal ever, I have never been offered £6000 to improve my own home, if this isn't the best deal of the year people on here need their heads read! Amazing offer and the money is being controlled better this time round so even if you have missed the opportunity this time round there will be another two opportunities to get this amazing deal! Even if this time round you will get £4500 I think! Do it, you will not regret it!
