I am looking for EXACTLY this sort of thing for my Dad who finds it hard to reverse....

Was thinking of spending a little more though and getting it fitted (unless anybody knows if this is easy to do?)

Also - at this price - are there any reviews? oted hot on price alone! Well done and thanks!

the only review i could find is a user review on the dx site:
Posted by athvdk on 1/20/2008
Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Price: 5 stars
Ease of Use: 5 stars
Build Quality: 5 stars
Usefulness: 5 stars
Overall Rating: 5 stars

Pros: It works just fine.

Cons: Be sure to install the sensors really vertical, otherwise they will give a signal from the ground they see (0,6 m).

Other Thoughts: Worth the money

Bottomline: Nice if you have no sight (icey back window f.e.).

hope this helps

Dead straightforward once you've determined your cable runs (the unit "bee-stings" onto the reversing light circuit)

The only wireless element is the link from the control unit to the user display i.e. the sensors are wired to the control unit.
#13
Cool- I shall order one now for the ''Bedford of Love''!
#14
My mate bought some of them wireless ones their an absolute nightmare! As you to have replace the batteries regulary, after some time you just can't be bothered. I suppose the the sensors with the wires get rid of that problem...
#15
I have fitted two of these now and they are brilliant, however the ease of fitting can vary widely from car to car, on a Vectra the bumper is just a thin shield so is dead easy to drill through (hole saw provided) and fit, all in all it took about an hour - however on my current Volvo the I found that the bumper is backed up by a large solid foam block and required me to completely remove and disassemble the bumper - took several hours even with assistance.

the netto one is only a two sensor, but probably better quality
#19
These look great, same colour as my car aswell... but id be to scared to fit them!
#20
I have these, but I haven't fitted them yet. A couple of things I have noticed though. There is no speaker in the box, just the display unit. Also, be warned that although they look silver in the picture, they are in fact a dark metallic grey colour (nearer to black than silver). Apart from that, they look really good quality.

Hot!

could the speaker possibly be inside the display unit?

Again, it's Deal Extreme, caveat emptor:
They're in Hong Kong so expect up to a month for delivery.
If the goods don't turn up then don't expect your money back.
If the goods turn up damaged then don't expect your money back either.

i've purchased from DX on more than 10 occasions and have not have any problems with products not turning up or recipt of faulty equipment.
Delivery does take a while, although i've never had to wait a month.
Taking into account these facts, i would recommend DX

cant comment on this product but its not a bargain if the quality is poor or the item doesnt work/last long.....its just expensive landfill

Good for you, I've bought from them on around 6 occasions and on the last one only half of my order turned up, they went through a series of excuses and then just stopping responding to me, as I said caveat emptor, if people wish to buy then I'm not going to stop them but I will warn them of possible problems that myself and many others have encountered.
#31
Just a warning about Deal Extreme....we've just received a package from them this morning of the six items we ordered THREE are missing (surprise surprise the three most expensive items). Looking at their customer service website, it now looks I have to take photos of the envelope to prove to them (as it goes, the evelope was impossibly small for the stuff that was in it, let alone for the 3 larger 'missing' items - a head strap lamp, a clock & a key fob!).

Shame really as we've ordered from them before without issue.

Amazes me how some people find it difficult to cope with advances in modern technology :-D
#33
how do you know about the quality mate? And how do you know it doesn't last long?
THEREFORE how do yoy know its not a bargain?
I know you don't own one...

Like I said, we've ordered from them before *without* any issue, but this time they've screwed up royaly

& from reading at least one other posters similar 'order shortfall' problems on this very thread, I'd have to say it's looking a bit grim wrt to actually getting any form of recompense!
