The Griffin Aircurve Acoustic Amplifier has been designed for your iphone. It turns your iPhone into a no-power-drain alarm clock on your nightstand, or a mini sound system that never needs batteries or adapters.

AirCurve looks like a simple, elegantly minimal stand for your iPhone. But inside is a coiled waveguide "horn' that collects the sound from the built-in speaker of your iPhone, amplifies it (by about 10 decibels), and projects it into the room. AirCurve's waveguide has been mathematically engineered to deliver amazing amplification -- you'll swear there are full-sized speakers in there. And AirCurve's see-through translucent polycarbonate body lets you appreciate the graceful curves inside that do all the work.

The Aircurve has a pass-through slot so you can feed a dock cable through AirCurve. Connect that dock cable to your computer or power adapter and you can sync or charge while you listen.AirCurve's pass-through slot will accept Griffin's Dock Cable (available separately) or the dock cable that came with your iPhone. It may accept others, as well.

Not bad, but be aware that you cannot use your own dock adapters or cases with this, only bare naked iphones.

just a though but if you use this as a charger - will it not amplify any text messages you receive during the night and also make you're alarm clock feel like it will blow your head off in the morning?

I'm after a table side dock but this could be a problem. Iphone on silent means alarm on silent unfortunately.

I have one, and it doesn't really amplify anything. Nice dock though.

Nice price but does it not look a bit boring?
Like a PC fan with the fan bit taken out.

heat n rep. purchased 2 - one for the mrs

these are decent and a steal at a tenner - considering double that elsewhere such as firebox!

My God, it's the wind up gramophone sound box reinvented!

Change your message alerts to vibrate only?

Interesting piece of kit, i would've voted hot but looking at this there is no reason why anyone wouldnt want a charging unit included. And if it has charging unit which comes with it it'll be quite simple to put speakers on it to amplify sound (from a manufacturing and design perspective)..

Hmm I struggle to see the use of this on comparison to a powered and possibly with speakers dock..

Edit: I suppose one could say, oh look at my swish dock, it doesnt need power to make this much amount of noise..... (but the batt will drain because i have no port to charge my power hungry device).

I have my iPhone on silent on a night and my alarm is not silent...!!

If I heard the 'digital' alarm sound any louder I might smash my iPhone.
It's truly horrible, but the only thing that wakes me up.

That's a good thing, surely?

Very sleek design. Great for the bathroom as there no power required and it gives the sound that boost it needs.
Does suffer from lack of bass resonance but you aren't going to get that sound without a real amplifier.
The design is like the reverse of an ear so on the grounds that is clever and Eco-Friendly gets a Hot vote from me

No it doesn't...

I have one of these and it works great. It doesn't make it ridiculously loud or anything but you can tell the difference with and without it and it's a nice stand.

will this work with the 3gs ? Probably a stupid question but i have been stung by things not working with the 3gs in the past

thanks

yeah its designed for the 3G/3GS

its an ok, slightly gimmicky product, probably works best as an alarm clock iphone stand

Looks good, been looking for a dock that won't muffle the speakers next to my bed, I like the white noise apps for ambient sound when going to sleep, this could be good as I can crank the volume down real low now to save battery.

I bought one of these a few months ago, thought it would come in handy for BBQ's.....

Anyway, it's a bit of a waste of time to be honest. It looks nice but thats about it.

The sound quality is crap, if too loud then it's muffled.

Suppose it's alright for a tenner (I paid about £12.50 about 4 month ago) if you want to put it in the bathroom as someone suggested.

Be warned though, don't expect to use this instead of some speakers.

Nope not true, alarm WILL work if the phone is on silent

Yeah, but Viggy_Value said that iPhone on silent means the alarm is silent, which is not the case..not with my 3G anyway.
