Good deal, I was after a iTrip SE in black to match my ipod. I've previously owned this model and it is very good
#3
Great find, I've just ordered one and used up my £2.50 hukd amazon voucher too :) Thanks OP.
#4
Are these itrip things specific to ipod models? So would this work with a nano for example?
#5
so its actually around £10 delivered because you cant get the free delivery...
#6
great price, i paid a lot more for one of these a couple of years ago
#7
hot hot hot, paid loads more for mine.

Be nice to it though, I broke my last one taking it in and out of my pocket all the time.
#8
Would I be right in thinking you cannot charge your Ipod whilst using this ?

Just thinking about car use.

Has anyone used Appleprostore before? I've been looking for an FM transmitter and came across them but i've never heard of them before.

Not with this model. Other, earlier, models go on the top of the iPod into the headphone socket leaving the charger socket free. That's the sort I have, also a Griffin, also very good.

The one I have you can charge with a mini usb cable. So I think you should be able to, usually only £3 inc postage on ebay.

i have one of these for my ipod classic. it's god awful. the signal is so weak that you get more hiss than music. The original 1st gen itrip was cracking, just a ball ache tuning it in.

i now have an itrip that runs from cig lighter. it's not brilliant but it's certainly better.
#15
What is stopping thois working on the newer iPods? Liek iPod Touch and 6G?
#16
I think they have a smaller dock connector, wallstreet
#17
I bought one of these a few months back when they were £7, Its ok if you have nothing else to get your ipod in your car. I ended up buying a cable to utilise the aux in on the stereo

Audiobooks this things stinks big time, music its ok. It will absouloutly EAT your battery life though, making you charge your ipod every night
#18
Will it be suitable for IPhone? If someone can please answer this.

Weird. I use one with my iPod classic and haven't had any problems at all with it. Is it the same on all frequencies? Also strange that someone's complaining about audiobooks on it - I use it with podcasts all the time without issue. But everyone's car stereo is different and the local interference is different for eveyone, so I may be lucky.

Yes and no. I can't prove this because my girlfriend's iPhone isn't to hand, but I think it only works if you turn off the phone part (put it in flight mode) because of interference from the phone part.

Had the same problem when I used it with my ipod classic. The sound quality was so poor I had to turn the volume right up. Nearly totalled my car when the connection between the ipod and transmitter slipped when I went around the corner.

Anyone recommend any other 'reliable' FM transmitters?

I've been looking around and asking people what to get, I've decided to go with the newer iTrip:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-iTrip-Auto-Transmitter-iPod/dp/B000BWACX2

I found that the Belkin TunebaseFM didn't have a bad review anywhere but it was a bit too expensive for me:

I bought this a while ago for a tenner. Works well with my 3G Nano.

Only times when the signal fuzzes up is when im in glasgow centre in the car...

Let us know how you get on... I'd be interested to know how it works with the iPhone.
#26
tells u what is compatible w what: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/

those who buy one, it's easy to get a less hissy signal turn the ipod up to three quarters and the car stereo down until you hear only minimal fuzz

For those reporting bad sound it is usually the aerial on your car that is the problem not the itrip, or on cars where the aerial is at the rear of the car i.e. most modern cars you will always get a better reception if your itrip is away from all the electronics of the car and closer to the aerial.

My aerial is at the back, do I need to duct tape my ipod/charger/transmitter to the roof for it to work?

I will do mate...I recently bought a logic hifi anywhere speaker system that didnt have iphone compatability but it works a charm. All you get is the message popping up saying this hardware isnt made for the iphone. And if your phone rings it usually mutes the music. Just another way for companys to put another £10 on there product re-brand it and says its "iphone compatiable".

have one of these for my newest generation ipod nano 8gb, works but signal is annoying, have to hold the ipod in the air and just goes fuzzy at times no matter what frequency... having said that it is an older itrip i think.

This is spot on mikegray I found one of these at a car boot recently and tried it on my iphone and it said not compatible with iphone as soon as I plugged it in it did work if you put the phone in flight mode which it also told me to do. So if you are happy to turn the phone part off it will be ok:thumbsup:

You must be one of the lucky ones, IMO this version of the iTrip is sh*te compared to the 1st gen. Volume is set way too low, where as with the 1st gen you could vary it with the iPod volume control. This one uses the line out, so the only volume control is via the radio receiver. Seems a lot weaker signal than the 1st gen too. OK, the tuning method is a lot better, but that doesn't make up for the downfalls.

As for the deal itself, it is a good price compared to everywhere else. Voted hot.

i eventually replaced mine with the power-trip i think it was called. cost a bloody fortune but has been a bit more succesful. still get the odd moment of fuzzy noise but the biggest cause of that i've seen so far is over head electricity pylons.
