I actually spotted this Gro Anywhere Blackout Blind on Mothercare for £30, but decided to price compare and see if anywhere had a better price. You can buy this item for only £23.95 including free delivery from Amazon. It's also £30 at John Lewis, £31 @ Kiddicare, etc.

I think this is an excellent idea and it will be going on my wishlist for when the baby comes!

From a quick glance at the product description, it's a heavy duty blackout blind, which fits on any window via the use of little suction cups. It means that if you are travelling anywhere, even visiting family for the day, you can pack the blackout blind with you. Then the baby can comfortably nap anywhere.

* Lightweight, light-proof material; Designed with travel & versatility in mind
* Adjusts to fit nooks & crannies of any shaped window
* Eyelets at regular intervals on the hem mean you can pop in suckers only where needed depending on the window
* Each hem can also be shortened for a proper fit
* Easy to use - put up & take down takes just minutes; Packs into a handy travel bag; Generous size - 200 x 135cms

Great idea. Hot from me.
another thing I bought, without realising I needed it.

I do a lot of nights for work, so this is really going to help me sleep during the day
think that's about 6'6'' by 4'5' - a really rough conversion
I read this as Go Blind Anywhere :S
Thanks OP

You must be going blind then.... ;-)
Why not just put the baby in the bag?
and i read it as a cunning plan to keep light leaks out of neighbours sights

gro (pot) anywhere
Is our house unique then?

We put up curtains.

Nice thick curtains.

No, your misunderstanding is unique - this is for temporary installation while travelling. Looks like a good idea too.

Made from 100% hemp?
waste of money why not just draw the curtains?no matter how many of these you buy if your babys not sleepy the little ****** wont goto sleep ..mines terrible he used to have nap time but not anymore he wants to either play on the wii or play with his cars he will do anything but sleep.
I am going to use this to have a nap at work cheers op!
Looks ok if you've got a baby without eyelids.
people need to understand that there is a difference between blackout and standard curtains.

unless you have blackout curtains (which are not convenient to travel with) then curtains do not block out all light.

these are really good and block out 100% of the light.
would it work on a velux? ie suckers at bottom as well
might get this for my games room as the blinds I have up let through too much light..

Yes, it has suckers around all 4 sides so you can suck it to a ceiling window if you wanted - it is big tho so you would have a lot of adjusting if your velux is a standard small one.

I think some people are missing the point of this -

1) its black out - curtains alone, even heavy ones have gaps and will allow light in...

2) Its a travel blind really - ideal for holidays / grandparents where they may not have thicker curtains or blinds up. It folds small too so doesnt take up much space when not in use.

3) Its big and flexible so good for bay windows etc - as you dont always know what kind of windows will be in baby's room when you travel.

I have this, bought it about 12months ago for my daughter and its fantastic. I pack it in her bag when she sleeps at her grandparents, especially when she goes to their caravan, we take it on holiday with us etc, i even use it in her bedroom in summer when its really sunny out - so that her room is darkened, stops her waking early and also perfect for her daytime nap. We have a black out blind up which is fine generally but direct sun easily gets through the gaps at the side and we find our daughter sleeps best in a very dark room.

Its a great price OP - well done finding it.
Thanks Kkirgirl, you've summed up the point of this :)
We have had one of these for about 3 years and they are great. Wouldn't go on holiday without it! Generally you get very cheap curtains in holidays homes so this makes the room nice and dark for our little girl to get to sleep easily. At this price I might get one for our room when on holiday - saves waking up at the crack of dawn when you're on holiday and can have a bit of a lie in!!

Thanks OP
This looks like a great product!!! Just to stick up for the OP - my little boy loves to be in pitch black when he goes to sleep as he is used to his blackout Velux blind so even his day naps were always in the dark. Whenever we went to visit my Dad, the curtains were very thin and he just wouldnt settle so we resorted to hooking a duvet over the curtain rail!! this still didnt do the job of a blackout blind but was our only option!!

My little boy is 2 next week so refuses to have his day naps anywhere other than in the car now!! so too late for me now but I would definately recommend to someone with a new baby!!
This looks like a great product - would save me taking sheets of black card & blu tac every time we go on holiday!
Fantastic idea, I don't need it anymore but I would have definately bought these had I seen it previously for hols with the kids when they were babies. I used to take my own blackout liners! Great find :)
now £28.00! Knew I should have ordered it yesterday!
