An upgraded version of the original Gro-bag Egg, the Gro-egg is an ingenious colour changing digital room thermometer. There’s so much to think about with a new baby, and keeping an eye on room temperature is an important part of safe sleep. The Gro-egg uses colour as a great way to show the approximate room temperature. As the temperature rises or falls, the Gro-egg changes colour, from blue through yellow to red, as a handy reminder to adjust the environment. If the temperature is outside the recommended guidelines, you'll know at a glance that it's time to adapt the baby's bedding, change their clothing or alter the room temperature. The award-winning design makes the Gro-egg probably the best looking thermometer ever hatched. Please note, the Gro-egg is designed to glow in darker conditions, so in light rooms please use the digital permanently back-lit LCD screen. A safe sleep guide is also enclosed with every purchase of the Gro-egg

I had a Gro bag egg and now have a monitor with a temperature built in. Never convinced either were accurate but still wouldn't be without one :-)

I know somebody who will be pleased to explain to you just what happens if your baby sleeps in a room thats too hot.

I warn you, if you should happen to make comments like the above, he may punch you quite hard on behalf of his child.

It would help if the product worked. Judged by the reviews, it doesn't.

i have one and it is great,my oldest ended up in hospital as he had a fever fit, so since then i have always been very aware of my children not getting too hot.so i have one and the changing colour is very useful as you can see the temp is ok without having to go to far in to the room.

Yeah, nobody used to die back then either. Weird that now we feel the need to monitor things like temperature to protect our children whereas back in the past they just all lived forever.
Its a bit like medicine, its amazing how we made it this far.

So far all that I have established from this thread is that obviously your parents didn't need one, which is nice. But then they didn't need contraception either but my word it would have helped.

No, its more that I feel quite passionately about it for personal reasons.

Did you know that a bedroom being too hot is commonly attributed as a reason for SIDS?

I don't need no stinking egg telling me the temperature so I can soundly sleep...and for that reason alone I'm out.

We 'coped' by accepting higher infant mortality rates... just look at those adverts on TV about "no child born to die" and how £3 can give them clean water. I'm sure if those unfortunate people had access to clean water then they wouldn't be claiming that they'd survived for thousands of years without it... oO

Maybe 'ph' should be pronounced 's'

We had one of these for our daughter. It looks cool but is utterly crap, at least 3 degrees C off at all times - a complete joke. Still a bargain to soothe a new mums nerves. though (they panic at the slightest thing)

I already have one of these and it's on 24/7 and not failed me since May. I love it. Yes the readings don't always match with the baby monitor but we are talking a degree or two max. Which one is right? Who knows. It's an amazing piece of kit and great when you can jut see what colour it is without having to put my glasses on and look at the actuall reading. Thumbs up in my book and I'll be ordering a second.

Cheers OP. Heat added

:-) Got excited when i saw the price ... could have done with it and order one.

Then i read the reviews in Amazon, and by a couple of other people here, and sadly ended up cancelling it. Good price though - have some heat.

This product isnt accurate so may give a false sense of security. This product is therefore potentially deadly and I'm sure your mate would punch you for defending it.
