Grolsch is a superb continental lager with a full bodied and crisp taste.

Grolsch uses a unique combination of two hop types; taste and aroma hops. Discovered by Peter Cuyper in the mid 1600 and still used today. With a rich golden colour and a naturally high carbonation, it has a characteristic creamy head, ensuring our perfectly balanced flavour.

Grolsch has a full distinctive and rewarding taste. Grolsch is officially approved by the Vegetarian Society and crowned Best Drink at the Vegetarian Awards 08.

This is probably one of the worst lagers I have ever tasted, wasn't impressed at all when I tried it. Good price though for those that do!!!

You've clearly never been near Fosters, Carling, Carslberg, holsten, bohme, Becks, XXXX etc then.

I think Grolsch is one of the better mainstream lagers.

I agree. It used to be Britain's favourite lager. Strange how everyone has changed their taste buds over time :-D

Don't mind Fosters, Becks and Carlsberg, Holsten is like toilet water, Carling gives you the "squits", never had Bohme!!! Still Grolsh is minging.

Each to their own anyway.

Grolsch in the UK is only nice when in the larger bottle with the fliptop. These small ones are awful and not a true reflection of how nice it can be.

It's better than everything on that list except Becks*, admittedly. But saying it's better than Fosters, Carling, Carlsberg and Holsten is hardly great praise, is it?

These are *tiny* bottles as well, in case anyone hasn't realised.

Give me Budvar / Pilsner Urquell / Bernard any day. There's a reason they're more expensive than this.

Is this delivery only, instore as well? I'm sick of going to Sainsbury's to get these offers. The last 3 decent beer deals have not been in my local store.... It's not really even local too! Please advise folks as they dont deliver to my area also..
#20

Urgh, Becks is like dishwater. Never understood its popularity! Like someone said each to their own!

How can you call Holsten and Becks crap?
You obviously haven't a clue about proper german beer.:whistling:

How can you lot have an argument over personal taste?

I like this and he doesn't. So what? How exactly can one beer be better than an other......its all about personal taste. Some people like their beers to taste like dishwater etc

Yeah, have done. Did so for all the previous deals and they said no. With this one, they said no, they don;t have this instore but then they called back to say that they did! Get a grip Sainsbury's!!

No the Grolsch you get in the UK today is not the same as you used to get. It used to be imported from Holland but is now made in the UK - its not a patch on its Dutch counterpart. Actualy Stella is the same I recently tasted some Stella actually from Leuven alongside the rubbish they brew here and sell under the same label -aaargh!

:gift: DRINK :p

The dutch bottles are made up of brews conditioned in a cellar whereas the UK ones are more of less shipped straight from the brew plant so thats why it has a rough taste in comparison. It wouldnt surprise me if they used turbo yeast also. Obviously the water they use is different so there will be a slight difference because of that also. Stella in belgium is far more smoother than the rough crap we get in the UK. At least Becks is completely german! I'm waiting for the £1 swingtop morrisons deal again :)

There's a hell of a lot of utter claptrap being talked in here by people who judge a beer/lager by its label rather than by its taste.

Most of the mainstream lagers of similar alcoholic strength are more or less indistinguishable in blind tastings - and that includes the own labels. You can prove it yourself if you get a group of people who think they only like a particular brand - they'll be hard put to pick it out of six others if you ask them to.Nobody ever does this, of course, and the big brands would hate you to find out that Lidl's Finkbrau, for example, is very difficult to distinguish from any other lageron the market! :p
