Spammed, needs to go into the right thread...

Spammed? I searched, but couldn't find this offer so I thought I'd share it...

Have I done something wrong?
#4
Not by me mate! I'm not spending my time trawling through a messy s.market thread looking for deals that might or might not be of relevance to me - much nicer/easier to scan the thread titles. Saw Grolsch, like Grolsch, looked at deal. Easy. Rep added and voted Hot.

I did put a message on each supermarket thread but it got removed from each and every one. Obv. voicing my opinion on those deals got someone's goat:whistling:
#5
Why is this spam? It's just as valid as the many deals from Amazon that end up here every day.
#6
In an effort to keep the forums clear of the many supermarket deals that get posted, three new threads were created for Sainsbury's, Tesco and ASDA. The idea being that all deals are posted in those threads and they will invariably keep being bumped to the top with new deals.
#7
I think the idea was to free up the forum of everyday supermarket items.I think that beer seems to be excluded from that catagory and rightly so.
By the way there are more supermarkets than the 3 mentioned.Where's the seperate threads for the others.i.e. Morrisons,Somerfield,Netto etc.:?
Excellent deal by the way and excellent first post puncroc.
Welcome to HUKD d3fendo.

Didn't say i agreed with it but rules are rules...

As admin says; live by them or go else where, no one is making you stay...
#9
In defence of puncroc and no doubt a lot of others, they probably do not know the rule as such.It is not a rule written down and displayed for members to refer to.How are newbies meant to know.As far as i know if the mods are not happy with the post they will remove it and then ask the poster to resubmit in the correct supermarket thread.

Gary... if you'd read the explanatory text on the supermarket threads, maybe you would not have been so quick at voting them cold and jumping down people's throats.

E.g.

These threads are for general everyday items, food deals, BOGOF offers and such. Seperate threads are still advisable for "hot deals", which we have seen a few of in the past on HUKD.

We will be leaving offers which are particularly good, but removing deals which are very basic, and available at any supermarket.
#11
Can we not just get the supermarket threads pinned to the top of the board then? Wouldn't that be easier to find instead of searching through the forum?
#12
This offer comes up at full price in my basket? What am I doing wrong?
#13
I was looking for beer deals on here yesterday and had too search quite a while before I came across this in another section of HUKD. It's is much more obvious in this bit. I bought some today...mega bargain!! Voted HOT!!

Beer deals are aways available at lots of supermarkets.

How do u know if the deals hot enough to post on its own of if it has to go into that thread, and surly it should be put in both as it was said that people can look in one place when they do their shopping.

And finally since when do our private vote decisions get broadcast by mods? This is a betrayal of our trust and I'm surprised you have done it to me, id like admin to have a look at this...
#15
ok no more beer posts agreed?
#16
Its now my understanding anything is allowed as long as you think its a "hot deal"

I see you're point. Whether or not a mod sees a deal as Hot is extremely subjective.

This supermarket thing just ain't working. I've said it before and i'll say it again, we need a whole supermarket section as a forum heading. This will save any posters playing 'search for the thread'.
#19
Sorry I didn't realise you had these rules. If there are such rules, surely this deal should have automatically ended up in a single thread/forum since I had to pick Sainsbury's as a merchant when I added the deal?

I see now why you want to group supermarket deals together, but this one is particularly good. It's not often you can get mainstream continental 5% lager at £1.24 a litre - even in supermarkets.

Also this isn't a small saving deal - its a 50% - that surely warrants a hot deal?

And by the sounds of a lot of the folks commenting on here (and how hot it is) - the people have spoken - this is a hot deal and deserves its own spot.

TBH, this initial negativity pretty much put me off wanting to post any more deals, so soon after I'd started. I thought I was contributing to a friendly community of like minded individuals all out to save a few quid. But then to be put down like that made me think otherwise, and I'll keep any deals I find to myself in future.

This shouldn't be dumped in a 'Supermarket Deals' thread, it's far better out where people will see it. It makes sense to put some deals in the Supermarket Threads but when it comes to truly 'Hot' deals they belong out where people will notice them.

This deal is quite clearly scorching so i don't understand peoples problem?

On the deal front, cheers mate! Got 15% staff discount at the moment making this £6.37, 32p a bottle, or £1.06 a litre! :D Just got to hope the offer didn't end today now, Wednesday is the day the offers change in Sainsbury's

EDIT: BTW i believe we have bottles of Magners going on offer at £1.29 each tomorrow. It's the pint size ones too!

Don't quote me on the price just yet though, im going from memory here. I might be 10p out or sommat

There's nothing continental about this lager. Despite the 'New Dutch Bottle' tag, this is Brewed in the UK for Grolsch (UK) Ltd, 137 High Street, Burton on Trent. The reality is that the price is nothing special either. A few of the major supermarkets recently had 20 packs of bottled lager on 3 for £20 offers, making them £6.66 per pack and this included Becks, which is a genuine imported lager.

Please don't be put off by the odd bit of negativity.I don't believe that gary_rip was having a go at you personally,i think he was,in a way having a go at the mods.He was trying to make the point that a rule was created,so it should be adhered to emphatically.Emma has cleared a few things up now and has stated that genuine hot deals will remain.Unfortunately it appears to be a way of life on here, that somebody will find fault with any deal (in their own mind) and let everybody know. For instance the previous poster, clashindevon, doesn't like the fact that this lager is brewed in England and you COULD have got cheaper premium lager a few weeks back. That is not the point, you have posted the deal because it is 50% cheaper than what it was previously. There is no need to comment on where it was born or that it WAS cheaper a few weeks ago,it is cheaper NOW and available NOW and a lot of people like this brew and appreciate your post. Thanks again and please post any other deals that you find.

Yes, it deserves it's own post, that's why I left it here.

@ everyone else - can we please carry on any further discussion about HotUKDeals in the supermarket thread in the comments forum please, rather than taking over this deal thread?

I'll have to remove off topic posts from this point on.

I bought a crate today :D

It was Bulmers that is down to £1.29/bottle today, made a mistake in my earlier post. Theres 20% off Magners though

I imagine it means that they ship the bottles with nothing on and then stick the English language labels on in the UK and then put them in the boxes.

Just to be clear about my previous post, I was directly responding to the section I quoted from Puncr0c. He said 'It's not often you can get mainstream continental 5% lager at £1.24 a litre'. I just pointed out that it is very often that you get 5% lager at this price or below and that in fact this is not continental lager. I personally have nothing against beer brewed in the UK, but they should not dress it up to appear to be imported.

It's a very good bargain.

Morrisons have 20 x 275ml bottles for £10 which is not as good !
