cheap for people on a budget - but I hope buyers don't have high expectations :whistling:

Im looking at getting a nice monitor for my mac so i can edit video, i was looking at a 22inch samsung monitor which is about 180, but for 200 quid for an HD ready TV, aslong as it has VGA im gonna go for it :D

thanks :D

Just what I'm looking for for the bedroom , 26inch screen for the price of most 19ins . oh and no I'm not expecting it to match my 42inch Panasonic either, before you TV geeks start telling me it's crap !
#5
as toonarmani says it is a budget tv, but is excellent value for money.

Sure there are better 26" big brand lcd's but they cost a lot more than £200.

If you really want a better tv, go for a 32" lcd if you can - there is always plenty of good deals on decent 32" lcds between £300-£400.

Very hot!!!

this will be a lower resolution than the 22" samsung, therefore it might not be any good to edit video.

Personally i think 19-22" is the best size for a pc monitor (i think 26" is the best size for a bedroom tv). I hook my laptop up to my 26" lcd sometimes but its too big for me and of course the resolution is quite low as well.

strangely i actually prefer using my xbox 360 with my 19" pc monitor as well over my 26" lcd (though my 26" lcd is much brighter and has better contrast)

have already bought this telly for my son's xbox 360 it's on his wall in his bedroom and works a treat he's happy and i've still got money in my pocket got to be a win win

A lot of inches for your £
#9
anyone tried this as a computer monitor? Any good?
#10
Thanks for the post. Bought this today. Its great. The picture is better than I expected. It works great as a computer monitor too. The built in freeview is pretty good, which seems to be a rarity in ANY flat panel, let alone a cheapie like this. For £200 im really impressed.:w00t: Heat added.

Think I'm going to pick one up tomorrow.

Been looking for a 24" monitor for gaming (XBOX 360) was thinking of getting the BenQ thats been posted but will probably go for this as it's bigger has freeview and has speakers built in for £50 more.

Hi, is it possible for you to share some pictures of the tv working, and even connected to a pc? Just want to see the overall quality before buying one... thanks....

The review is maybe from an unlucky customer. The epg on mine is fantastic, it shows not only now and next, but a whole evenings viewing for one channel at a time instead of a couple of programmes for 6 or 8 channels at once.

The overall quality of tv, computer and ps3 is good for a tv of this price. Im fussy but even I am happy with it. Its no panasonic but its not panasonic money either. At £200 I dont think you will be dissapointed, but if you are then I would recommend the panasonic even though its almost twice the price. One gripe would be the picture can lose a bit of detail on some dark scenes but ive seen much worse on budget LCD's.

Hope this helps

I'm torn between this and a Sony 26" display model down my local Argos, reduced to £250 but unboxed. What is the HDMI picture like? Is the unit of a decent build quality? Is the remote fairly ergonomic? I don't suppose you could post a picture for us potential buyers here?
#16
Went for the Sony in the end........
#17
The grundig is an excellent budget set with decent build quality. I find the remote ergonomic. The hdmi picture with the PS3 looks great to me. This said, its a budget tv and I would expect the sony to be better.
My worry with buying an ex display tv is that the shop has them on all day every day which after a few months is more use than a lot of people would give it in a few years. Its probably had more use than a secondhand one.
#18
Just to add to this - I've bought this set - got my PC hooked up to it in dual display with my monitor (VGA) - looks great.
Freeview also looks great
Got my XBOX hooked up via component which I'm not overly impressed with (I've tried VGA which is a lot better)
Going to change my PC connection to DVI ->HDMI cable so I can use XBOX via VGA then I will be totally happy with it.

Yes MikeG VGA will always look that bit better than Component. Have always found the colours a little washed and not as sharp even with my plasma screen so stick to that, or HDMI although I have one of the older XBox 360's so mine doesn't have that....

Bbasra what makes you think that screen is better for £30 more? The specs seem the same...
#21
right I bought one of these and am pretty impressed with it, will take some pics and attach them here....

Just had to take mine back. Watching last night and it just switched off and wouldnt switch back on, even after a few hours unplugged.
Took it back this morning and got a replacement. Now I have to burn it in again. The picture on the old one had got far better than this over the week I had used it. Never mind, here we go again.

Not good to hear that.... Hope it was a one off....

Took some pictures yesterday, will upload them tonight and share them here....

Hi,

here are my pictures, hope they help someone in choosing:

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/7405/dsc02673r.jpg

They show the EPG, Dark Sector through XBox 360 via VGA, PC connected via VGA and Digital Freeview.
These were taken as soon as I got it really, and left on Vivid.... They were taken 30th May in daylight - can see the window, was about 4:40pm....

Thank you for posting those pictures. I was thinking of getting this tv for the bedroom and that's helped enormously. Think I might go for it after all. Cheers!
#26
No worries :)
#27
Right unfortunately going to give my TV back, as I was able to purchase one of these: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/413657/samsung-t240hd-24-lcd-tv-monitor-fu/showthread.php?t=413657

I did notice the exact same shape and size as the Grundig with same remote in Asda for £230 but rebranaded as Panache...
#28
Did anyone else get this set? Interested to know their thoughts on it esp when hooked up to a pc.
#29
Bump
